Can I get a "we were wrong" , from the voting machine crowd?
I'm talking about the people who for months on end here, relentlessly chastised and told all of us working our butts off in the Special Election in California, that we were stupid, wasting our time campaigning, walking precincts, phone banking,etc...that the fix was in, we were going to lose no matter what, and that all was hopeless.

It's a good thing some of us "fools" decided to push ahead and bust our asses doing the ground work, despite misgivings and suspicions about the machines.

Don't get me wrong, I want paper trails and audits as much as the next guy, but until we get them, that doesn't mean we just lay down and die. I just think we proved that you don't stop doing the ground work, while you're fighting for other issues. You work all fronts.

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. L)

2. I was so worried that people would be so married to speculation -
that they wouldn't be able to work together and vote out Repukes. I was very heartened with the results last Tuesday. And also that they seem to be taking the laws about "not releasing information on exit polls" really seriously. Which means that more people go out and vote.

IMHO

9. Well said.
I tried to get active in verified voting but was turned off when I was accused of being a secret freeper after I refused to drink the kool-aid about the vast conspiracy. The OP is right. Nobody should stop working on voting paper trails OR anything else because of speculation or the insanity of a small group of people.

5. Who among the "voting machine crowd" said "lay down and die"?
And...is it possible that the vote was tampered with (say 2 0r 3%) but we still win because of a sufficient margin to overcome not only the opposition but fraud, as well?

It's not like there weren't machine problems around the nation.

10. Naw, The Unions just figured out how to hack the machines
themselves. Or maybe they didn't. Either way we wouldn't know, would we?

12. i think you are misinformed.. actually you are misinformed, didn't happen
there is concern about the machines.. they are technically illegal, a recountable system is required by law.

tomorrow you go on Decaf...

14. I wasn't among those folks, but I heard on Thom Hartmann
Edited on Sat Nov-12-05 08:14 AM by deutsey
yesterday that there were some weird discrepancies between polls leading into the election in Ohio and what the results were.

I'm glad we won in California (and thanks to everyone who worked to defeat the propositions), but I do still wonder if there isn't reason for real concern about Diebold machines in general.

Maybe the way to offset possible hacking is an enlivened, enlightened, organized electorate?
