GOP consultant accused of forging signatures to get names on ballots

He loudly criticized Republican George Ryan over the licenses-for-bribes scandal and made U.S. Senate candidate Jack Ryan's sealed divorce files a campaign issue.

Now GOP political consultant Rod McCulloch is facing troubles of his own.

A DuPage County grand jury has indicted the longtime strategist and pollster, accusing him of knowingly submitting forged signatures to get a candidate on the ballot in suburban elections that took place about seven months ago.

"It is a very serious offense," DuPage County State's Attorney Joe Birkett said. "We believe well over 100 signatures on petitions were forged."

No doubt he is a graduate of the Katherine Harris School of Political Science. He isn't as bright as the other grads, however. He allowed himself to be caught.

8. You just have to LOVE Illinois politics.

The IL GOP is a real piece of work--but never doubt for a second that the IL Dem Party is too much cleaner.

Politics is a blood sport here in Illinois and we probably wrote the book (or books)) on corruption. For a real hoot, stop in the Illinois forum some time and check out the discussion of who all has been prosecuted or indicted here for graft, cronyism or election fraud.

9. Was his candidate of choice finally elected?

If so, what will the state do, if the GOP if found guilty of forgery?
Can the elected official be removed from office? That doesn't sound realistic although it does sound wonderful to my Dem ears.
