But if you are going to make it a practice, they will be able to ID you eventually.

like or not what you are doing is an intentional act on your part to cause financial harm to walmart by increasing their operating costs to clean up after you and/or disrupting their business.

that is different than if you were shopping and decided you did not need or want an item for that reason and discarded it, or abandoned your cart because you did not have enought to buy the items or got a very importanat cell phone call that your house was on fire.

If somebody came in your yard and turned everything over would you feel kindly towards that person even if they did not in fact break anything that was turned over?

No joke. I haven't looked into it that much but there were a whole host of things that got the terrorism suffix. Basically, sit-ins other shenanigans which went on in the 60's may be classified as economic terrorism. I'd love to be wrong wrong wrong about this. Maybe someone can research to see what's actually on the books or under the Patriot Act?

You go to the store and realize you left your wallet at home....there's no law against not buying stuff...there's no law against shopping and changing your mind.

no other place to buy them in my neck of the woods. Like always Walmart had changed everything around so I had to go searching for them. I made a turn from one aisle to another and came face to face with a guy I know just finished hiding an item under his coat. He looked at me with crazy eyes like I was some store detective that had caught him in the act. I brushed my jacket back a little, he noticed my Colt on my hip and than we both continued on our business as nothing had happened. Of course in your perfect world I would have been shot or stabbed for being miss id'ed as a store detective. And if you think about it a moment you would have to agree that your alter ego, "Bob" would agree. :)

These people are motivating me to fill WalMart with literature in every nook and cranny of the store - and "forget my wallet" with a full cart in tote :rofl:

I guess I won't anymore. I've said before that I must shop there sometimes, due to my location in the boonies.

I have chronic pain, and have left my cart in the aisle many times out of sheer frustration, limping around forever, looking for one item.

I left a whole cart full at the self checkout last week when the machine malfunctioned, and there was no one around to fix it.

all one need do is leave their money, checks, and credit cards at home. Profess - quite truthfully - that one doesn't have anything with them, and leave. Apologize, adopt a sincere tone, and leave.

That being said, the easiest thing for me to do is to avoid the store. Which I do.

But if the same person starts doing it repeatedly, then they will probably take action. I am sure their lawyers have already outlined a set of procedures for carter protestors.

... fired an employee for being gay. The local LGBT community anounced a similar "leave your cart" action against Wal-Mart and the store fired back that it would prosecute those that participated. This was before 9/11 and the Patriot Act, so I don't recall whether they cited a specific law they could prosecutor protesters under or if it was just intimidation from Wally World's legal thugs.

The only time I used a tactic like this was at a grocery store that was selling food well past the expiration date on the package. I had talked to the store manager about this and he assured me it would be taken care of, that it was apparently an oversight, that it's hard to get good shelf stockers, yada, yada, yada.

The next time I went in the store there were STILL out-of-date products (not just a few days, but a month out of date). I filled my shopping cart with everything I could grab, then picked up several of the expired products and took it to the manager's office and informed him that because the problem still hadn't been corrected, I would no longer be shopping there ... and by the way, here's some stuff you need to put back. He told me if I didn't put them back, I could be arrested and I replied, "Fine. Tell the cops to look for me out in front of the store. I'll be the one on the cell phone calling TV stations."

Needless to say, I wasn't arrested and as I left the store I heard a call over the intercom for stockers to report to the manager's office.

The whole cart thing depends on the same people doing it over and over.

A few people doing it once will not even show up on their radar.

I have no idea what legal avenues they have available, but they pay enough to lawyers that I am confident they could find something.

And if you pay by check or credit card they have you in their database monitoring your purchases, dates, times, all your 'behaviors.' They are big brother in practice. As you go there to buy your colored food pellets, they watch, they record.

Grow your own, by locally, pay cash, move farther from the grid, lessen your dependence on the consumer addiction machine.
