I love America.
I am to the left of the Liberals in Canada. America is our leader.

3. Thanks, Swede
We hear a lot of the opposite sentiment directed at individual Americans, so it's nice to see an affirmation of us.

BTW, we do have a leftist party, they're just not allowed to become powerful. (We have the best theocracy money can buy)

5. Please define left vs. liberal! I'm curious
w/o being judgemental. Call me liberal, leftist, a Dem, I'm any and all of those and am not so selective. I'm anti- what's going on now with our country.

6. In Canada a family sickness shoud not wreck you finacially.
It has to be shared among us all.

7. I'm probably about as "left" as the liberals in Canada
(and as "left" as the democrats in America were before Reagan).

I love America too.

I was born here, in Texas no less, and I'll probably die here.

I have hope that the right has reached its apogee here, and is in decline due to Iraq, Katrina, corruption, and other factors.

Our last round of state and local elections gives me hope.

9. Based upon his other comment, this may be a snide remark
I think Swede may be sarcastic in this post. Re-reading it in lite of his other remarks leads me to think it might be.

Knew it was too good to be true. lol

10. You've read me wrong melody.
Snide was not my intention. America is a democracy with hundreds of millions of citizens, 99% of them good and decent human beings, just like the rest of the world. During the Cold War,Canada would have been devoured by the Soviet Union if we didn't have you guys watching our backs.

11. I withdraw my remarks then
I appreciate your kind words, although I'm pretty sure Canada would have been fine during the Cold War without us.

I think what we all need to keep in mind that ours is a collective future. The old game rules of binary competition aren't going to wash. And really, the only thing truly dividing our countries is an invisible line.
