What country will the U.S. be invading twenty years from now?
Using Iraq as a benchmark, it will have to be a medium size dictatorship that we keep at arms length, yet supply them with massive amounts of armaments. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say: Pakistan. I know they have the bomb, which would normally trump any idea of a limited theater war, but their program is so rudimentary that it really poses no threat to the U.S. and it can also be used in claims for a "regime change" in Pakistan. When the war on terror fizzles out, we are going to need somebody(that the United States propped up) to act as the "bad guy". Pakistan works out wonderfully for the policy makers. When Pakistan is no longer useful to the U.S. in the so called "war on terror" you will see the U.S. start a strict policy of isolating them, American leaders will tout Pakistan's nuclear program as a threat to global peace and stability. We will get India on our side behind the scenes in a limited capacity, gathering intelligence and so forth, much in the way that Israel is helping the U.S. in Iraq. To bring India further into a conflict would risk having a global war so they must be left out. It's gonna be Pakistan or one of the nuclear capable FSRs, Ukraine, maybe.

5. Who will have oil?
And that includes will the US have the oil to intervene? If the US has no oil than the US can not intervene, but if it has some, and needs more it will invade. The problem in 20 years the countries with the most oil will also be able to better defeat such a oil grab (For they will have the oil for their planes, ships and tanks).

My Guess, no one for the US will NOT have the excess oil to take over the Middle East while the Middle East will have all the oil to buy Ships, Planes, tanks and even armies to defend itself from the US.

7. Twenty years? Too short
We need 30-40 years to forget what a debacle Iraq was (like we did with Vietnam).

Once a nuke goes off in any American city the whole focus will change to isolationism, protection, and trying to make friends again with the international community. Unfortunately it will take a tragedy of that scale to make leaders realize that we can never win through force alone.

8. Of course, it could be the other way around, ya know...
"We know for a fact that the US is planning to launch weapons of mass destruction from UAVs close to Chinese mainland. These terrorist attacks must be stopped before they can take place, so the government is going to let the US have 48 hours, by the end of which time, they must turn over the war criminals/terrorists Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Perle, Feith, Boucher, Bolton, and their aids. If the US does not comply with this order, we will have no choice, as we don't want the next information to come to us as a smoking sixgun."

10. Considering how well the "World's Mightiest Military" is doing in Iraq
the politicians and generals could attempt "Shock & Awe" against mighty Andorra..with massive help from NATO. Or, perhaps, an amphibious invasion of Catalina.
