Which Fictional Evil Force does the Far Right remind of you the most?
Edited on Mon Nov-14-05 11:03 AM by ck4829
Pick any one you think it is.

I'd say they remind me most of the Covenant from the Halo series. Foul language, social stratification (A hierarchy), religious fanaticism, and a Cult of Personality all mixed into 1 little package.

Back when beards, bushy eyebrows, and swarthy makeup (not bumpy foreheads) defined who was a Klingon, they were just militaristic thugs.

82. yes, accurate
This global superculture that consumes and subverts all local culture,
yet offers nothing but wage slavery, a metaphorical borg thing, where
people are hollowed out agents, and rather than acting by soul,
act in fear of economic plantation masters. And the irony that
anyone would call it "neo", being so much of the 1850's.

To program a borg, you implant an economic friedman, preaching the
decay of all non-profitable systems, in a race to reduce all persons
to economic and social isolation. And in the cold hollowed out room
of human morals after it is "enslaved" by a plantation, as much as
people wear the uniform of their employer...

And finally, with a bible rammed up their ass. This provides the
uncomfortable egotism, the pretense of feeling as if the bible is
really part of them, and that digestive discomfort of the blockage
of their intestines.

So they change colour and have sexual implants, collogen injections
and liposuction, lounging in the compnay of naked young virgins,
thankful of the bounty of islam.

Lord of the Rings.

The corporate, big money interests are Sauron's all-seeing "eye in the sky." The social conservatives are the orc armies that they rally from the mud and muck of the earth to mindlessly fight their battles for them.

You can extend this analogy: Elves are the effeminate/detached East Coast liberals.

33. SPECTRUM 7(?)
http://www.yaleinsider.org/bush/Spectrum7.html

http://alaric3rh.home.sprynet.com/science/bceo.html
Arbusto, an oil exploration company, lost money, but it got considerable investments (nearly $5 million) because even losing oil investments were useful as tax shelters.
Spectrum 7 Energy Corp. bought out Arbusto in 1984 and hired Mr. Bush to run the company's oil interests in Midland, Texas. The oil business collapsed as oil prices plummeted by 1986, and Spectrum 7 Energy was near failure.
Harken Energy acquired Mr. Bush's Spectrum 7 Energy shares, and he got Harken shares, a directorship, and a consulting arrangement in return. Harken, under Bush, brought in Saudi real estate tycoon Sheikh Abdullah Bakhsh as a board member and a major investor. Over the next few years, Harken would turn out to have links to: Saudi money, CIA-connected Filipinos, the Harvard Endowment, the emir of Bahrain, and the shadowy Bank of Credit and Commerce International.
A 1991 internal SEC document suggested George W. Bush violated federal securities law at least 4 times in the late 1980s and early 1990s in selling Harken stock while serving as a director of Harken. This is essentially the same kind of activity that Martha Stewart is going to prison over. Except at the time of the investigation, Mr. Bush's father was president and the case was quietly dropped.

If you read Star Wars the book, the beginning goes into it a bit, although the final story was different. His first inclination was to make Palpatine a puppet, which is even more like what is happening today.

"All democracies turn into dictatorships—but not by coup. The people give their democracy to a dictator, whether it's Julius Caesar or Napoleon or Adolf Hitler. Ultimately, the general population goes along with the idea ... What kinds of things push people and institutions into this direction?"

  • The Kuomintang (KMT) (of Chiang Kai-shek)

  • The Native American Party ("Know-Nothings"; no connection with American Indians)

42. William Stryker
from X Men 2

Driven by total hatred and desire for power he manipulates government and even arranges terrorist attacks to scare people in to giving him what he wants. He manipulates everyone around him, even his own family, in order to maintain power and uses excessive force and crass tactics when ever he can.

Bigoted, inflexible, hatemongers, no tolerance for anything.

Ed: although they aren't fictional, there are a lot of similarities.

From Harry Potter. All selfish, all secretive, only concerned with winning at any cost, and their house is in a dungeon of the castle (undisclosed location), unlike Gryffindor who's house in in a tower.

65. Wonderful comparison
While we're at it, I'd say the Bush family reminds me alot of the Malfoy family from the HP books: both families are rich, have lots of influence, and have ties to evil people (the Bushes have ties to Hitler, the Malfoys to Voldemort).

68. Another vote for the Galactic Empire (Star Wars)
I live in perpetual fear of the day when we get hit with another "catastrophic event" and Bush (or god forbid another GOP President) goes before Congress and issues forth his declaration of martial law and "reorganization" of the USA into a global empire (isn't this more or less one of the PNAC goals?). What scares me even more is that I'm not even sure most of Congress would oppose him if he pulled such a stunt. OTOH, ordinary citizens might not feel the same way especially if poll numbers for Bush/GOP stay low and since our military (at least not yet) is not populated by clones whom are genetically programmed to be loyal to the designated leader so hopefully they would not support such a declaration either (especially since they've had the screws turned on them by Bush since he has been in office along with the rest of us).

104. North Central Positronics -- in conjunction with the SOMBRA Corp.
Edited on Tue Nov-15-05 03:27 AM by Leopolds Ghost
Location: Granite City, Wyoming (South-east of the City of Lud, between Candleton and Topeka)

Point person: Pat Robertson AKA the Walkin' Dude... the man with no face.
(moves backward in time; many disguises over the centuries.)

Front man: George Bush, "The Good Man".

Henchmen: Low men in yellow coats, AKA "neocons"

Already Controls: Numerous Alternate realities, and the people living in them

Seeks to Control: The reality-based community

Created thru foul craft: "Slow mutants" (Intelligent Design theorists)

Speaking Demons: Karl Rove, Donald Rumsfeld (when needed to jawbone the nation into war)

Supposed Target: Mid-east oil

Actual Target: Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, next to the U.N. building

Preferred Method of Armageddon: Superflu

Will settle for: Disorder, War, Devastating floods, nukes

Likes: crashing planes into buildings

Dislikes: children; people with heightened powers of perception

Missing: A beautiful white terrier, SCOOTER. Responds to calls. Injured in one leg. We lost him in the woods in autumn. We miss our puppy very much! REWARD OFFERED.

Arch-Enemies: The Kennedy family, Roland of Gilead, Fitzgerald, and other Gunslingers

Trivia: Briefly inhabited Ralph Nader's body in the disguise of a creepy person named John Roberts in an effort to kill Al Gore's presidential campaign and make the Democratic Party schizophrenic, creating an alternate reality in which President Bush actually won the election in Florida. The resulting temporal paradox was resolved several years later when the Bush regime was exorcised by a male demon.

110. It has been clear to me for some time now that the current
administration is a real life, evil, Boss Hogg and Roscoe P. Coltrane. Bushco's bafoonish greed and corruption is a complete rip-off of how Boss ran Hazzard County.

We are the good people of Hazzard, Conyers, the CBC and a few others are the Dukes and Patrick Fitzgerald is Enos Straight.

When it's all over, I think our orphanages will be well funded.
