As Of Today Big Brother Is Definetly Watching DU
Feds Using ISPs to Spy on Internet Users
November 13, 2005
Nick Parker

“Having recently reported how ISPs are being pressurized into revealing information on internet users, the USA stands on the threshold of a far more ominous threat to privacy that will force ISPs to allow a wide range of law enforcement agencies direct real time access to their own systems.

Having exposed the EU’s intentions regarding data retention in a news article on Slyck, it comes as little surprise to hear that similar moves are afoot in the USA. Intelligence agencies already have full access to ISPs in those countries participating in the Echelon electronic spying network (Australia, Canada, the UK and the USA), and these latest measures are intended to extend similar powers to a wide range of other agencies.

This latest move has arisen in response to representations made by the Department of Justice, the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Agency out of concern that emerging technologies “were making it increasingly difficult for law enforcement agencies to execute authorized surveillance”. As a consequence, the US communications governing body, the Federal Communications Commission issued a final Order effective Monday November 14th compelling all broadband Internet service providers and many Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, companies to include backdoors allowing police and many other enforcement agencies to directly eavesdrop on their customers by April 2007.

Curiously the deadline for consultation also ends this Monday, which happens to be the very day the 59 page Order becomes effective. The FCC acknowledge that this is confusing and say that they will be issuing further directives in forthcoming months to clarify issues such as P2P voice communications (as apart from VoIP) and whether educational establishments are considered ISPs in their own rights. ISPs will have 18 months from November 14th to fully comply.” Cont…

14. my friends, if you think they haven't been before now...
These people write kiddie porn bestiality novels. They have sick minds. They think everyone else does, too.

Boy, will they be bored by my email (coupon trading circles, film discussion, anthropology and politics).

Those of us who braved the outside world activism in the 60s, 70s and 80s can tell you we *all* had our license plate numbers taken down. The paranoid little anti-social jerks would have no life if they weren't plotting against everyone else.

I'd bet we've created job opportunities for a hundred or more agents over the years. They owe us! If it wasn't for us they'd be stuck making their porn novels. Good for us to lead them astray, eh?

even had an introduction to a song that dealt with just that. I'd like to request that if any federal agents are reading this, that they link us to that song. Thank you.

18. ooooh I'm so scared
what are they going to do, INTIMIDATE me? Show me their big bulging biceps?

That might be kinda fun.

If you live an otherwise circumspect life, who cares. The very worst thing they could do is inconvenience you, but not as much as you could inconvenience them if you put your mind to it.

A dog, even a friendly dog, will chase you if you act scared and run, so dispense with the being scared and the running thing, and think about all the shit you can pile on someone who is being a dick to you.

For instance, my gladys kravitz neighbors called the police on Mr. Sui and I one weekend; they were sure they had heard a gunshot come from my house and my house only and there was only one explanation, which was that Mr. Sui and I had set up a circus knife throwing wheel, pinned the chihuahua to it by her ears and were drunk and shooting blindfolded at the wheel trying to see who would get the highest score, OR the sliding screen door on the pool house banged in the wind.

So the cops showed up and started poking around inside my grand piano, in my cabinets, in my closet, looking for said shooting range in my house, or else three gruesomely dismembered corpses in a five gallon bucket and a bloody circular saw. Who knew.

As it was, they went away quite embarrassed, but to their credit when I said (jokingly) don't look in there, it's where I keep my stash, they didn't. Now my neighbors however, we have subjected to a special hell. I recently came home with some new 45 gallon storage bins to put the halloween decorations into and came out into the back yard, where my neighbors were peering through the privacy fence. Mr. Sui was working on the pool and I flug the containers in the general direction of the pool and loudly exclaimed that we finally had something to put those rotten bodies in and would I mind getting him to finish cutting them up while I started dinner?

Needless to say, the neighbors have now installed a camera and pointed it at our backyard, to which I occasionally go outside in the light of the fool moon and deliver a full moon. Also during the day. This weekend I intend to douse myself in ketchup and come staggering into the back yard carrying an ketchuppy axe.

The shit I do to entertain myself.

Just have fun with it and don't use the B word at the airport and you'll be okay.

Just want to sample some of that great music, a plate of black beans and rice, and check out how awful it is to live in a "police state"...again.
