Coulter is Coming
But why is the UConn student government prepared to give her $16,000 — almost twice the usual fee — for doing so?

Last April, the UConn College Republicans brought Warrior the professional wrestler-turned-conservative-lecturer, to speak on campus. It's safe to say that the event didn't go well.

Several students engaged Warrior, who famously portrayed the Ultimate Warrior on the professional wrestling circuit, in a political debate. When all was said and done, Warrior had, among other things, questioned the legitimacy of Kwanzaa, may have mocked a student he might have believed was Jewish, and declared to the crowd that "queering doesn't make the world work."

Almost immediately, the College Republicans began apologizing for the event. In one statement, they described their decision to bring Warrior to campus as a "great error." In the other, they vowed that "in the future, the College Republicans will be sure to choose speakers that will be more likely to promote intellectual discourse on the UConn campus."

For the UConn College Republicans, the future is now. They've announced who their next sponsored speaker will be Ann Coulter. She'll be at UConn on Dec. 8......
