I got a lot of calls from local Democrats yesterday and today about a letter to the editor I had printed. Some of them had not heard about this new happening, and were very interested. So I went to the website while they were on the phone, looked up the local events for them, helped them find the names of the people to call....and they were calling friends.

It was a nice feeling. They had never heard of such a thing, but they loved it. One of them said "I heard that Howard Dean was going to go after the grassroots, and this must be what he meant." He was actually excited. He asked when the local Democratic Party met, and I gave him numbers and times.

"Tomorrow night - in all fifty states (and in 20 other countries) - Democrats will come together and begin the work that's needed to win in 2006 and 2008. In the past, these initial meetings happened just months before Election Day, and the bonds formed and the lessons learned disappeared just hours after the votes were counted. Starting tomorrow, all of that will change.

If you want to host an event, you still can. There's no reason why you can't invite your friends and neighbors over - even if it is the day before.

If you want to go to an event, there are over 1000 nationwide, so finding one shouldn't be a problem. Click here to search in your area.

If you're already hosting, you can get all the materials you need right here. We'll send you the conference call information later tonight.

If you have any questions, feel free to email us at nov15@dnc.org. After your meeting, send us your photos and stories and we'll share them with others who are deeply invested in laying the groundwork for the coming elections. "

1. How does one get the 800 #?
I ask because I'm out of town working, so I can't meet up with my local chapter... How best to participate tomorrow night? Will the con call be prerecorded? I just want to hear what they're planning.

3. Go to the link, use the zip code of where you are.
That is what I would do. It is not about local groups, it is trying to bring in new people. The ones in our area are mostly just Democrats, some of whom never go to meetings.

Try the zip code where you are, and then see if one is close enuogh for you to attend.

4. I thought about that...
But I'm not going to be able to "get out the vote" here or anything. I'm just here for two more days. I worried I might be a dead weight.

Think that's the best idea though? There's a place just down the street. It would be nice to see some like-minded faces regardless. Esp. since I'm down here to work with a very RW *-bot... Ugh.

Thanks for the reply.

9. My Precious Dad's Doing his best!
He lives in Amelia Island and has more anti-* stickers than anyone! In fact, I just re-donated to DU and asked Skinner to mail my dad the DU sticker since I now have plenty and my dad will put it on his bumper...

It's sad, I've seen more anti-* stickers here... and entire suites of anti* and anti-Republican, anti-Bigoted sentiment...

I live in SC (hence the palm tree logo for my avatar, it's my state). You just don't see that there. Jax is at least verbal on both sides.

I can't wait to meet all the people who think like I do. Heck Gallup keps telling me that more and more they are out there!

Bless you Mad... where you from?

2. OMG - There are 14 House Parties in Kansas City! Which one should I
go to?

One where I will know many/most people there, or a new group of people?

10. I was thinking I would do that because I've never been to the WFM.
Next time, it will be at my house. I'm a Precinct coordinator in Olathe, so I'm fixing up my house (the basement), so I can have people over. I'm really looking forward to my own Democrat house parties here in Olathe.

12. Hope you can come join us
The Flea Market has awesome burgers. Plus, we really have a great time at our DU meetups. We started with just 3 of us almost a year ago but our group has really grown.

And keep in touch with me. I live in Overland Park. :hi:
