Federal Court now shafting American Indians out of their share
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2005/11/15/national/a122912S40.DTL

A federal appeals court decided Tuesday that it was unreasonable to require a historical accounting of money the government has been managing for Indian tribes, saying the bookkeeping chore would "take 200 years."

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia sided with the government and the tribes in their effort to block a lower court order for a detailed tally of money owed the tribes going back to 1887.

1. Well on the surface that does sound unreasonable
TO ask an accounting that goes back 125 years.

On the surface it sounds like the federal appeals court just applied some common sense.

Im quite sure that the Indians are getting shafted, but surely justice can be applied without asking for a book keeping miracle.

you know, for all the pounding the Americans Indians have had, I am surprised we all aren't half way to freakin China by now. So, the courts are boo hooing, about a damn book keeping chore, what a crock of shit, they just want all the $ and don't want to pay "anything" back...well, this is an example of how the Fed Government has treated Indians...welcome to our world. Even if the Fed Government knew how much it owed, they wouldn't pay a dime...

3. Well, great! Next April 15th, I'll just inform the IRS that...
...the historical accounting of my finanaces is an unreasonable bookkeeping chore that would take at least a year.

There you go!
