Warner Blames the Iraqi's
I couldn't believe what I heard today. Senator Warner was expounding on how it was time for the Iraqi's to start assuming responsibility for themselves and to understand that the U.S. could not stay there forever.

Instead of admitting they made a huge mistake, are the Repugs now going to try to go with the "it's the Iraqi's fault because they are not defending their own country" routine. What a bunch of cowards.

That might have worked as a way for the Administration to get us out of Viet Nam, but, unlike Viet Nam, the Iraqi's did not ask us to come in. We invaded their country, overthrew their government, created an insurgency and now Warner wants us to believe somehow that it is their fault that things are not going well.

Will the Dems let them get away with this B.S. or will they call them on this one big time!!

1. This reminds me of a statement made on Democracy Now yesterday by a guy--
I believe his name was Mike Levine. He just wrote a book with a title like, "Why they don't hate us", about the history of the middle east. At one point he quoted someone who said that the colonial powers have always said, "We'll stand down if they'll stand up and take care of themselves." His answer to that was, "It's hard for them to do that when you're standing on them!"

So true!

2. Part and parcel of the new Repub strategy
"throw it all on the wall and see what sticks."

3. It should be legal, but not in this context
Warner is just a whore for the administration. Even if he was still married to Elizabeth, Warner would never get further than he is so he grabs at any tidbit those in power decide to throw his way. This is among the chores he apparently must perform for.

5. NO! NO !..This is perfect
you forgot to think like a thug. They are starting to lay the groundwork for withdrawal. He is a mouthpiece for the administration and they are testing the water for 2006. Ohhhhhh, goodie, we are leaving soon!

6. That was my exact thought. However, we can't let them get
away with claiming it's the Iraqi's fault. After we destroyed their country, this Administration has to be forced to admit what they have done and that it was a mistake. I want us out of there in the worst way but am not willing to allow them to blame it on the country we destroyed.

Hope Dems will start shouting to the rooftops when they start this one. Warner is a big-time mouthpiece and the troops actually respect him, he must be made to tell the truth, not slink out of Iraq without admitting we blew it.

They're such dishonest cowards!!

11. Yah, it's starting to creep into their overall attitude. Iraqi's
must realize that they have to start taking responsibility, etc., etc., What a lot of B.S. We absolutely can't let them get away with it. Dems need to stand up everytime this line is used and make it clear it's the Administration's fault.

I get so frustrated. Not one Dem pointed out the B.S. yesterday when Warner was spouting his latest "blame them" line.
