1. Don't you just love it?
Anything to get ratings. John is cold and dead, his life cut short. This loser gets to be on TV.

6. I'm A Lennon Fan...I'd Like To Know Why
I've only heard snippets over the years directly of what drove this guy to do it. Other than the Salinger references, I'd like to hear his narrative.

Woah...25 years since that sad day. I was just wondering the other day how Lennon would fit into the world today and what he'd have to say about what's going on.

someone mentioned his politics them removed it?, what were his politics did he identify himself as a communist? was he a trotskyist? did he follow authoritarian doctrines?

myself I would aspire to being an anarchist if i was disciplined enough :),Would i be right in suggesting he would have worked with Answer in these days?

24. You've got a point. For historians and psychologists
it would be useful information. I mentioned Lee Harvey Oswald and think now that his narrative would also have been something that could shed valuable light. Probably why he was silenced.

14. G. Gordon Liddy and Oliver North are radio "stars".
Criminals in the media. Criminals in the White House.

America rewards antisocial behavior.

9. Hatred never ceases by hatred...
The article seems a somewhat (not totally) sympathetic article about a man with mental illness who says that he was not in control when he acted and that he did it, in part, because was a nobody.

I am not against keeping Chapman in prison longer - but I don't think a somewhat sympathetic article about someone with mental illness is terrible.

Media focuses *way, way, way* more on violence by people with mental illness than they do on any other aspect of mental illness - I am okay with this article.

...And I miss John very much.

13. I dunno about everyone else, but speaking for myself, it isn't hatred
It's just that I don't really CARE what he thinks. He did the crime, now he can do the time. He has been trying to get out of jail, and perhaps his lawyers think the sympatico treatment might help his case or shorten his sentence.

So I just do not care to watch that game-playing. But then, I really do think they ought to come up with a GUILTY AND INSANE plea, instead of this either-or stuff. It would get insane people treatment, AND keep them off the streets.

15. He should be kept locked up until treatment or age ensure that he won't
hurt anyone else. I am in favor of using prison/treatment to change behavior. If he is no longer a danger, then I think he should be released, especially if he can support himself & perhaps even do some good now. That's just my opinion.

10.  This is disgusting. I will write NBC.
I lived in Rochester, Michigan, at 28 in 1980, and was watching Monday Night Football when Howard Cosell announced it. Chapman should rot in hell, and so should Sirhan Sirhan. And this is too emotional to comment on further. Dammit.

16. I was 20 and lived in Fraser, Michigan
And I remember that moment so clearly. Mental illness or not, he killed John Lennon in cold blood. Period. I don't NEED to know more. What does Yoko say???

20. My good friend, Jim Law, grew up in Fraser. And died at 44, in 1998.
Fraser is special, and thanks for thinking of it. And I really do appreciate remembering this. Remember your relatives, my friend, and eat too much. Merry Damn Christmas. It is special. Especially how you put it.

22. Jim Law
I did not know Jim Law. Did he graduate from Fraser? If he did, he'd've been about two years younger than me. Still, I'm so sorry to read of his passing.

23. Ooops!
I mean he'd've been two years OLDER than me. I graduated class of 1978. Jim would've been from class of '76.

25. Please, enjoy this Thanksgiving. Jim will always be young.
My God, there are lots of stories. Happy Thanksgiving, my dear friend. I will have Thanksgiving with the woman I have loved for 10 years, and the daughter that goes back to 1976. Long story. Have a good one, and create your own story. That's what Thanksgiving is all about.

18. You should care
if you don't want to see murderers given airtime as if they are some kind of heroes.

I have all the sympathy in the world for people with mental problems, but please, let's not put them on the air to publicize themselves as a reward for having killed somebody, OK?

anyone will ever think of Chapman as a hero.

I imagine she's a pretty nice girl, but she changes from day to day.
I want to tell her that I love her a lot, but I gotta get a bellyful of wine. I imagine she's a pretty nice girl, some day I'm gonna make her mine, oh yeah, some day I'm gonna make her mine.

Stop the War. Not because of Vietnam. The lies are worse. Stop the War. Now.
