Have you seen Google Earth? It's completely amazing...
I just downloaded Google Earth and I guarantee you'll love it. Plus it's a free download. It's a 3d rendering of the Earth that's let's you fly around the gloabe and see your street, your city or the Forbidden City in China. It's awesome. Here's a link - enjoy...

4. Have you figured out the tilt feature yet?
You can zoom down to a mountain top( or any other place) and tilt so that you are looking out towards the horizon, then spin in order to get a 360° view.
Awesome

Check out Baghdad, very high resolution.

6. Check at buildings near the White House
One is mysteriously digitally altered because of something on the roof. Hmmmmm....I wonder what it might be?

9. Here's a site you might like to look at.

It doesn't have as good a zoom as Google Earth but it has a view of Earth from just about every Satellite. I was kind of shocked at how many there are.

There was a story some months back where India protested that Google showed too much of their presidential and military areas. Google said that their photos were outdated because they date back about 2 years. That's impossible because when I zoomed to my street I can clearly see my car that I bought this year.

13. Might be stricly accurate.
Photos are updated, in fact you can click one box which gives outline and date of individual photos used in compilation of graphic right on the screen.

So the photos used for the Indian areas mentioned could be 2 years old while that used for your house is new.

14. Guess it depends on where you live. The zooms of Austin are old.
Edited on Wed Nov-16-05 12:24 AM by chalky
The zooms of my brother's neighborhood shows a swimming pool that was dug up to make room for condos about a year ago, and a clear area around their house that's now covered with more condos. (Yes, they're getting the heck out of that neighborhood.)

eta: And I just found my house. I moved in 2 1/2 years ago but the zooms clearly show where the house was still being remodeled.

My son moved away and I was able to find his house without ever going there. I really do like it. I have searched and searched, it's a load of fun.
