So why are most of the top White House officials
out of the country this week?

There's been nothing be more bad news for Bush everyday, yet once again Bush and his misadministration are all AWOL again.

I get the feeling, especially with the Woodward bombshell, that someone, maybe Rove or Cheney are about to be indicted and the rest of the gang want to be as far away as possible? We'll see.

5. That's why I don't believe in the death penalty
I much prefer life sentences doing hard time in some hell hole. However, I think for this gang Abu Ghraib and Gitmo would be more appropriate.

14. I disagree.
As much as Beloved Leader loves hot weather, Gitmo and Abu Ghraib would be pleasant holiday resorts. Let's send him to Siberia - the really, really cold part.

6. Isn't Cheney the only one left in the Big House?
Wow, I have been mulling over the complete AWOL of the Administration since they left. This is the only plausible explanation I can think of, thanks! There is a bunch of chatter about dropping Cheney and replacing him with Rice to give her a couple year advantage against Hilary in 08. How Bush like.
For his entire term the White House lights have been on with no one home but - this time it is real and the timing just too darned peculiar.
The next few days will be interesting.

8. Rice will never get through the Congressional confirmation process
to get anywhere even close to being POTUS or VP. Not going to happen. She's in this thing up to her fancy earrings.

9. I sure hope she won't.
And if they try to accomplish that, I hope the words "mushroom cloud" are hung around her neck by everyone who comments on her.

11. Mushrooms and Rice...a delicious combo!
I think even if she gets installed (and it would need to happen before the next election cycle while they still have their majority) she wouldn't have a chance in the election against Hillary or anyone else.

Ties to the rotting hulk that is the * administration aside, I think Condi has definite electability issues. She is just extremely unlikeable as a candidate...she comes across strident, condi-scending (couldn't resist), and cold. Her legendary intelligence doesn't even come across the times I've seen her. In fact, I'd LOVE it if they picked her, but they won't.

12. Her supposed intelligence is a myth based on the fact that she has a Ph.D.
Just like Lynne Cheney and Newt Gingrich. The three of them together don't have the brain power of whoever was the genius who invented pantyhose.
