Here's the insanity we're up against . . .
From an e-mail making the rounds:

***

I Don't Care

The lady who wrote this letter is Pam Foster of Pamela Foster and
Associates in Atlanta. She's been in business since 1980 doing interior design and home planning. She recently wrote a letter to a family member serving in Iraq....... Read it!

WHAT'S ALL THE FUSS?

"Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not
started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001? Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not
brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan, across the Potomac
from our nation's capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania? Did nearly
three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or
crushing death that day, or didn't they?

And I'm supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was "desecrated" when an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it
wet? Well, I don't.

I don't care at all.

I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.

I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start
caring about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi Arabia.

I'll care when Abu Musab al-Zarqawi tells the world he is sorry for
hacking off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling!, slashed throat.

I'll care when the cowardly so-called "insurgents" in Iraq come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques.

I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs.

I'll care when the American media stops pretending that their First
Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up
an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care.

When I see a fuzzy photo of a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners who have
been humiliated in what amounts to a college hazing incident, rest
assured that I don't care.

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank that I don't care.

When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat,
and fed "special" food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is
complaining that his holy book is being "mishandled," you can
absolutely believe in your heart of hearts that I don't care.

And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled "Koran"
and other times "Quran." Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and ---- you guessed
it, I could not have said this any better myself!

If you agree with this view point, pass this on to all your e-mail
friends. Sooner or later, it'll get to the people responsible for this ridiculous behavior! If you don't agree, then by all means hit the delete button. Should you choose the latter, then please don't complain when more atrocities committed by radical Muslims happen here in our great country.

***

Unbelievable. But the really, really scary thing is that many people think this way: the 30% or so who still approve of Bush. That means 1/3 OF THIS COUNTRY.

God help us.

2. What a MISINFORMED woman.
And sounds like "lack of education" couldn't be her excuse.

I don't know what you can do about people like that. The presstitutes are certainly a big contributing factor.

And too, "There is none so blind as he who will not see."

I wish there was a way the US could start a draft that would apply only to Bush supporters and their offspring.

5. I received the e-mail from an acquaintance . . .
Who is very well educated and successful. My sense of these people is that they are so blinded by partisanship that they simply cannot accept reality and view everything through that lens.

In addition, I think there are major underlying issues of racism and xenophobia.

It's a complicated story, and my response would have an adverse effect on people other than me; so I can't respond.

7. Unfortunately, these people obviously don't live in the land . . .
of true or false. There are NO facts that support this idiotic war, but they support it nevertheless.

13. no, i'm telling you Pam Foster didn't write this
see here: http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/foster.asp

Origins: Although the article quoted above has come to be attributed to a Pam Foster, it is actually the work of Doug Patton, a freelance columnist and political speechwriter. The e-mail-circulated version leaves off his two opening paragraphs and adds a closing "I don't give a sheet either about those sheet heads!" statement that wasn't in his original, but it is otherwise a faithful copy of his article, which was first published on the gopusa.com web site on 6 June 2005 under the title "Ask Me if I Care About 'Mishandling' of Koran" and which has since been reproduced on a number of other web sites.

Pamela Foster said this of how her name came to be associated with Doug Patton's article:
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to let those of you that haven't contact me that I forwarded the "I Don't Care" to my nephew serving in Baghdad after someone forwarded it to me. I don't remember who that was, nor did I think much about it until I received long distance phone calls and lots of e-mail. Everyone has been nice except for some whacko who thinks this government planned and executed 9/11. I responded that we would take up a fund for him and we would send him to any country to live that wasn’t here! In any case, someone else let me know last week that a columnist named Doug Patton (google him) wrote the article and I notifed him of the response and what had happened when I forwarded the e-mail. I still don’t know how it got on the "NET", but I am glad. Lots of people have sent me thank yous and some have said they would send to their government representatives and more than one has told me they sent it to the President! WOW! Had no clue what I was getting started. Anyway, God Bless everyone and the USA!

I use snopes to check my chain-mails, & use the "Reply to All" option with a link to the bogus article. Sometimes, folks get it. . . .

23. I understand . . .
but it doesn't matter who wrote it. And obviously Pam Foster agreed with it anyway.

This isn't like debunking a factual statement. This is somebody's opinion; an opinion that the idiots agree with regardless of who wrote it.

I can see them yelling "fucking right!" at their computer screens.

Frightening.

4. I hate those stupid chain emails of ignorance.
For many this is a holy war.

Listen to the radio or sometimes TV and you hear this message which is basically "Muslims want to wipe all of us off of the earth." Now I'm sure that there are some that want that, just as there are some Jews and Christians who want the same to happen to all of the Muslims.

But I imagine there are a great many Muslims who are like a great many Christians and Jews who just want to get on with their lives, raise their kids stay healthy and someone else practicing a different religion just isn't that big of a deal.

and besides, when our people get back in, we'll have the Patriot Act, and these people will be marched off to the detention camps for some serious political re-education.

11. Total Catapult of Propaganda, probably written by KKKarl
as someone else suggested. The sad thing is, when this sort of thing gets passed around in a flurry of glassy-eyed approval. Have people no shame? It truly makes me sick that I live in a country where people who feel this way have center stage. Truly. Sick.

16. who can argue in the face of such brilliance
When was it that the Right start utilizing the fake email strategy for bolstering their flock? Oh yeah, must have been right after Al Gore invented the Internet (yawn).

But amidst all the sparkling gems of wisdom, I do think I detect a wee misstatement, re: the statements preceded with the phrase 'I'll care when", i.e. "I'l care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs."

Status: Not true. You won't care, not even then. You don't care now, you won't ever care, you simply lack the capacity.

18. Just another example of why this
country needs to taken back from these kill-mongers, these people of hate and greed. Our interests? Our interests like shit, my interest is that of my son and his is in this god-damned war now. Now it concerns my interests.

I ask every American if you can slit the throat of an Iraqi and pour that in your gas tank? If you answer no, then you are against this war, if you answered yes, well then go sign up for the war, you will make a good soldier....

22. I need no convincing
It's as if this person is doing her dead-level best to make me understand how she is so very, very deprived of a soul, and how utterly infused with hate she is... as if I don't already understand. Too bad she went to all of this trouble to compose an email about it. I knew she didn't care, was soulless and hate-filled when she voted for Gee-Duhb. Tell her to let me know when she wakes up from her blithering ignorance... to give me a holler when she snaps out of her hate. Until then, a big fat I DON'T CARE back at her. I've never figured out how to give a person a soul, or how to make them stop hating. If she spent less time celebrating her soullessness, maybe she would realize that it's in fact the root cause of her breathtaking misery and emptiness.
