remember when bush was considered totally indestructible?
Edited on Wed Nov-16-05 10:15 AM by mopaul
remember, not so very long ago, how heroic and manly and decisive he was? how he pulled us all together in our grief and took action? remember?

i swear, it's good to see him falling into the pit of disgrace finally, cause i thought for sure we were all under some bizarre mass hypnosis.

1. Ah the good ole days for Conservatives
I felt very alienated from the amercian public and for a while thought I was maybe insane. For a while I mean since 2000. However, Bushco's arrogance has come home to roost.

2. Yes, Bush, himself is tainted
but beware... there may exist, in the wings, a fresh face with similar views ready to take up the banner and go forth.

So Bush and his gang might go down, but there are plenty more where he came from.

3. Ordinarily, I would feel ashamed
of experiencing such undiluted glee at the misfortune of another, but...

NAAHH! Bring it on!

4. Unfortunately, Smirk is only the symptom - - the disease still rages on
If we had an objective, independent news media, Smirk never would have been invincible - - in fact, he never would have won the GOP nomination in 2000.

Additionally, if the elected members of Congress - - Dem and GOP - - had done their jobs, Smirk would not have caused half the damage that he has done. How many Congress critters voted for Smirk's tax cuts, for the patriot act, for "No Child Left Behind", the war, the wing nut judges on the federal bench, Smirk's incompetent administrative branch nominees. How did Katrina happen? Yes, Smirk appointed Chertoff and Brownie, but Chertoff had to be confirmed by the Senate, and was confirmed by the Senate: 98-0. Some of the Dem Senators' speeches praising his competence and professionalism are embarrassing to read.

How many of these idiots - - GOP or Dem - - are even in danger of losing their seats for their pathetic voting record?

We are stuck with the same collection of "I'll stand up for the public good as soon as the poll numbers show that's the safe thing to do" seat warmers in Congress. We're still stuck with the same distracted, pathetic media - - yesterday CNN's "on this date" was "15 years ago, Milli-Vanilli was stripped of their grammy for lip syncing". I dunno about y'all, but I can remember actual news that happened about five years ago yesterday in Florida. Here's a few of the other things that have happened on Nov. 15ths in the past:

On Nov. 15, 1777, the Continental Congress approved the Articles of Confederation, a precursor to the Constitution of the United States.

(snip)

In 1939, President Roosevelt laid the cornerstone of the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C.

(snip)

In 1966, the flight of Gemini 12 ended successfully as astronauts James A. Lovell and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin Jr. splashed down safely in the Atlantic.

(snip)

Ten years ago: A partial government shutdown stretched into a second day.

(snip)

Five years ago: Al Gore made a surprise proposal for a statewide hand recount of Florida's 6 million ballots — an idea immediately rejected by George W. Bush. Earlier, Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris had rejected requests from the counties to update presidential vote totals with the results of hand recounts under way at Gore's urging.

We are still oopah-loompah-doompahity screwed.
