The Manly Men of God
The first thing one notices when walking toward HP Pavilion in San Jose is males -- nothing but big groups of men. Not sissy-boy men, but manly men. The kind who go to big sporting events and watch the playoff game with their buddies, not to mention men who are lovin' the Jesus.
On this night the womenfolk are made to stay at home; it's guys only, as the testosterone pumps in the large sports arena where the Sharks play hockey, and it is all in the name of the Lord. Yes, titled "Calling Men to an Unpredictable Adventure" -- these are the Promise Keepers!

"If you want to truly change the world, change the men," states the Promise Keepers' literature. (Sorry, ladies.) This weekend is designed to "expose a list of lies of the world against our manhood." Holy shit, not only are people lying to men, but manhood is also on the line!

Who started the Promise Keepers in 1990? Why, the head coach of the University of Colorado football team, of course -- a manly man doing a manly profession. As far as filling arenas goes, the Promise Keepers are the AC/DC of men-only, Jesus-centered events. Touring 20 cities around the country, with ticket prices at $89, filling up larger outdoor stadiums with upward of 40,000 people, the Promise Keepers are holy big business.

taxpayers of colorado out of several million dollars when he opted out of his contract so that he could run this absurd, male chavinist organization, and demanded that CU STILL pay off his contract.

go to the promise keepers website if you want some really scary reading.

3. I am a manly man, and a Christian
but I still say Coach Mcartney cheated his way to the national championship. Wouldn't be caught dead at a PK meeting.

6. Hear hear, that was the year that the Buffs got five downs
Didn't have the ball over the goalline, yet were still awarded the TD against Missouri. Big controversy over it at the time, and McCartney's response was basically "Fuck it, I won"

2. letting these men know their righteous position in a family
and dont you forget, and dont let your woman or children forget. you, are the leader. wink

we have boyscouts and and church groups go to hockey games. i went to one. knew i wouldnt like it, i didnt like it. watched a news interview of a kid from a reporter. did you see any fight? favorite part of the game? was it exciting? being a competitive athlete all my life i dont see beating someone up as part of sprot. except in boxing since that is the actual sport. i dont like boxing, but i can recognize the sport of it.

so, i dont let boys go to hockey games. it has become about the fighting. but then, i am raising girlie boys.

4. McCartney is a moran.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_McCartney

"McCartney's star quarterback (at Colorado) was Sal Aunese. In the fall of 1988, McCartney's only daughter, Kristen, became pregnant. After several of the Colorado football players with whom she had been sexually active took paternity tests, the child was determined to be Sal's. She opted to have the baby and not to marry Sal. Just weeks before the child was born, Aunese was diagnosed with a radical form of stomach cancer. Aunese's child, Timothy Chase McCartney, was born in April, and Sal Aunese died in September."

Or this...

"....the controversy that was to cast a pall over the Buffs' 1990 success came on October 6, 1990 against Missouri. The referees accidentally allowed the Buffaloes an additional play that wound up being the difference between victory and defeat. The play, known as the Fifth Down had major repercussions for the rest of the year. A precedent existed for how to deal with such situations: In 1940, Cornell defeated Dartmouth on a similar "fifth down" play. But as soon as the mistake was spotted, Cornell forfeited and gave the win to Dartmouth. McCartney refused to follow that precedent and accepted the tainted victory."

What an idiot.

7. did they fix their financial problems?
I thought PK was on the ropes a few years ago, not enough manly men writing checks and so forth.

this is so tied up in suburban culture, not who you are, but where you go to church, wife kept at home, suburban in the driveway. PK endorses and affirms that manly men have to wrestle control of their families back from those (women) who have unbiblicly exerted too much influence among the family unit.

this is very closely tied to James (be sure to shower with your boy to let him see your penis and he won't be gay) Dobson. What's up with colorado?
