O'Reilly Explains How Far-Left Smear Sites Work

O'Reilly should get an award for spinning, there are so many lies and half-truths in this TPM it's insane. He claims everyone else took him out of context and misrepresented what he said, and that he did nothing wrong. Then he says the internet people are lying about him and smearing him, now that's funny.

And the guest O'Reilly had on from San Fran did not disagree we are fighting a war on terror, he just said he would not call it a war on terror. His name is Todd Chretien, he is the author of Prop I.

O'REILLY: OK. But you - overall, overall, are we in the middle of a war on terror?

CHRETIEN: That's what the President calls it. I would call it somethin' else.

From his Tuesday 11-15-05 talking points memo San Francisco: Part Two.

Now "Talking Points" is actually pleased about the San Francisco controversy because this whole deal needs to be out in the open. The far left smear Web sites, which support the anti-military movement, have developed an effective way to punish people with whom they disagree.

And here's how it works. The smear sites print analysis that distort someone's position on an issue by taking it out of context, reporting humor as being serious, or flat-out lying about tone and substance.

Then the smear sites urge their readers to email threatening words to sponsors or demand a firing, whatever. The Internet gutter snipes also contact sympathizers in the mainstream media, who then publish the Internet defamation often without hearing the original remarks, which are at issue. Remember, there's a huge difference between a written transcript and actually hearing what was said.

In the past, the smear sites have been somewhat successful using these dishonest tactics, but now the game's up. Anyone, anyone who carries water for these far left sites will be exposed on this broadcast. Your right to know.

The Internet — the intent, I should say, of the smear sites is to intimidate free speech. This is not what America is supposed to be about.

So the smear sites must be exposed. They have hurt the country dramatically.

So there you have it. Our left wing San Francisco guest last night would not agree we're fighting a war on terror. And he's entitled to his opinion, but we are entitled to believe the opposite and to fight against dishonest ideologues. And I believe we're winning that fight.

The 'smear sites' will have to tell the truth about that I suppose.

Since the general public is only now learning that hidden in the No Child Left Behind bill was the clause that allowed the Military to get personal information on children without their parents' knowledge, and that schools are not allowed to tell parents when the military requests such information, unless the parents object, which of course they can't do, unless they know about the law, it might interest O'Reilly's audience to know these facts. especially those who are getting demanding calls from military recruiters.

Poor BOR, if only he would learn to be a real reporter, he might not be in so much trouble all the time. I have a feeling that when parents learn what No Child Left Behind really means, they will not be angry at the so-called 'smear sites' ~

I also think that the title for this bill was a cynical joke against the parents of this country ~ I'd like to know who came up with that title.

many websites similar to ours are out there? granted not all 80,000 have given their opinion on o'reilly, but the amount is probably staggering. he better plan on doing a whole show with just printing our names.

When voters express themselves democratically at the voting booth, they have the right to do so without the Gestapo (that would be you, Billy) advocating death, destruction and mayhem upon them. When Americans subsequently complain about the Gestapo (you again, Billy) scare tactics they have the right to do that without fear of intimidation.
