Question about Wilson/Hadley/Woodward
Do any of you guys understand why Hadley told Woodward about Valerie Wilson in June of 2003? Joe Wilson's column didn't appear until July. Did the WH know he was going to write that piece? I know he'd been asking questions for a while. Were they expecting him to talk?

an American ambassador who went to Niger to invsetigate the claims and found they weren't true. I believe the New Republic published one article and the Times Kristoff wrote an editorial about it. So, they already knew Wilson was talking to the press.

3. If I recall correctly...
Joe Wilson has explained that he approached various admin officials about the "16 words" and about the false Niger/Saddam/uranium claims on multiple occasions to give the admin opportunity to come clean and correct the record, but they refused. They were aware he was planning on going public at some point.

So, it looks like instead of taking the chances that Wilson repeatedly offered them to come clean, they instead engaged in a dirty whispering campaign against him to discredit "the messenger" well in advance of his going public.
