Buchanan's Take On Woodward
An interesting read from a man who has an interesting & biting perspective on the recent disclosure by Woodward.

“One can no more differentiate the politicians from the journalists in Washington today than one can tell the pigs from the farmers at the close of Orwell's Animal Farm.”

2. Woodward has never been one of Pat's favorites
since he helped bring down Nixon, but in this case Buchanan is absolutely right.

6. He's not involved
in the case. But he was the first journalist that connected the neocon spy/AIPAC scandal with the Plame case.

14. Agree
Scary, yes? I find I agree with him more than I ever thought. Maybe he has finally grown up. Course any one with half an eye, pug or dem can see that these are wrong guys.

4. The guy has
a way with words. And, of course, he may not be entirely objective when it comes to Woodward.

5. One bit of much needed clarification in the aritcle (that we already know)
<snip>

For Libby is charged not with outing Plame, but lying about where he first heard about her. Either he lied to the FBI and grand jury or he did not. Woodward's story does not affect the truth or falsehood of what Libby said to the FBI and under oath.

7. He said that? Holy shit!
“One can no more differentiate the politicians from the journalists in Washington today than one can tell the pigs from the farmers at the close of Orwell's Animal Farm.”

BTW- if you haven't seen the movie or read the book- it's available to rent! Be sure to get the remake...it's well worth the time!

peace.

Isn't he the same way? Buchanan circulates between Presidential runs & the McLaughlin Group every couple years. Politician, journalist, who knows?

13. He asks some good questions here
Who is the senior official who outed Woodward to the prosecutor?

Why did they wait two years to say anything (is someone trying to cut a deal or is it a distraction?)

Why did the squealer give Woodward permission to confirm his story to Fitzgerald, but refuse to let him reveal his identity?

Why didn't the squealer tell the truth before and does this make them subject to perjury and obstruction charges?

16. "Why did they wait two years to say anything"
My guess is that someone knew and gave them up. Otherwise why would they say anything, Woodward certainly wasn't?

As to why keeping their identity from the public, GJ records are sealed, FitzG. isn't talking and neither is Woodward, so unless the person is indicted or his/her name comes up in what may be a far distant trial, no one will know who they are. It's a gamble. Of course the pResident could find out and tell us in a second.

15. Mark Felt was not sworn to uphold the Nixon administration.
He was sworn to uphold the Constitution, which the Nixon administration was violating.
