Something that I don't understand...

about the reporters in the Plame case. Apparently Bob Woodward was told about Plame but didn't write a story.

Judy Miller was told about Plame but didn't write a story.

Bob Novak was told and did write.

Also there were other reporters like Chris Matthews and Andrea Mitchell who were given a heads up on Plame but also didn't say anything.

There must be some reason they were told but didn't write, and Novak did. What is the plan? Was it for Novak to spill the beans and the others to verify so "everybody knew"?

The others just treated it like a story, not much to tell, unless you want to purposely OUT someone.

Little known, JM did plan on writing but the lawyers put a stop to it. And to give CM credit, he did call Wilson and give him a head's up regarding Rove, which Wilson then put in his book.

4. My speculation, they were to be conduits of the Plame info, not

the reporters of it. Their job was to take it and spread it around 'in house', be part of the 'whisper campaign',as it were, while Novak was the choice to make it public.

Perhaps they kept their mouth shut because they knew such an important secret could do great harm to their country?

There was once a great patriotism in America,
when it would have been considered treasonous for any insider to broadcast info harmful to our country.
