A Sophocracy would be rule by the Wise.

This is how America could have some elements of being one.

We would require a chart. You have to have experience and wisdom before you can be a Senator or the President.

Here is how my chart, you have to start at the bottom and go up.

Bottom - Local Government, City Council
State Government
House of Representatives
Senate
Top - Presidency

How would this system work out?

1. But who decides who is "wise"?
And who gets to define "wise"?

3. Yes, there are some very "WISE" but EVIL people out there
Intelligence/wisdom is overrated; what we need is someone with a good HEART. That person can always select wise ADVISERS to counsel him/her.

4. It's just what I called it
It would be based on experience.

Has a person been in local and state government before they think they can play in the Federal Government?

5. Not good enough.
Experience does not equal competence, let alone "wisdom."

The fundies would run around quoting "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom" all the time, so they'd still be pushing for a theocracy based on their definition of "wisdom," and every other point of view would have a competing definition.

6. My guess is that there a lot of people with the kind of experience
outlined in your chart in the Senate now. But are they wise?

They may have got through those stages the same way...by being venal as hell.

2. I believe it would depend upon whether "wisdom" is
the understanding of life that includes enemies, or the understanding of life with no enemies.
