If you're a politician, then play politics - re: up or down vote
Edited on Fri Nov-18-05 04:42 PM by DancingBear
This vote tonight is the latest in a series of lame Republican efforts to discredit the messenger, and not the message.

The degree of unity by Dems tonight will go a long ways towards defining this party, and I am "hunching" here that those on our side of the aisle have a nice little surprise in store for our Republican brethren.

Pelosi is no fool - on the contrary, she runs intellectual rings around Denny Hastert. I would watch for a turning the tables vote to be introduced by Pelosi - imagine if she brought up something along the lines of an up or down vote to rescind tax cuts for the wealthy and use the money for body armor for the troops.

Granted, that won't happen, but something will be done to further embarrass Denny "Fake Soldiert" Hastert and the rest of F Troop.

Just a hunch, nothing more, but I know I'll be watching.

Edit: I don't think any Dems will go on record for Hastert's "vote".

2. Agree
If we win the vote tonight, either outright or symbolically, it will send the right wing nuts over the cliff. On the other hand, if our vote is weak tonight, then it might take a lot of steam out of the correct argument that Bush lied to get us into this war.

Most people think he lied (Finally!) and we need to stand resolute on this one.
