I don't know how long it's been available.
But he added an rss feed for latest breaking news:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/rss/lbn_feed.php

so you can use an rss reader or add the list of lbn posts to your firefox tool bar or
put it in you firefox- thunderbird mail

4. do you use firefox for a browser?

if you do it's easy, you just add a live bookmark to you tool bar. I don't know how to do it in IE though.
