Jesus, does anybody EVER recall a lot of shouting & screaming in the
House before? This is beginning to look more like Britain's Parliament!
(Lantos is properly questioning the content of the 'debate') This is nothing short of wild! I think I like it.

this much action in the House. I love it...I think the Republicans are stunned by the response.

Cheers!

It'd be even better if it there was a question period where the president has to field questions from the opposition.

15. thank everything that they started
screaming about all that. I know that POS Schmit said she didn't mean to insult Murtha, but of course that was exactly what she said...I have a message for Murtha. If the Democrats had just sat there, I would have left the party. It was wonderful to hear them. I was a bit disturbed that they shut the sound off on cspan during these breaks. I think we should be hearing that too.

I just started a thread comparing what is happening in your House with what happens in the Canadian House of Commons.

25. I believe the last time
this kind of thing happened was in 1964, when the Civil Rights Act was being passed.

Before that you'd probably have to go back to the lead-up to the Civil War. To say this is unprecedented and historic hardly begins to do it justice.

May 22, 1856: The Caning of Senator Charles Sumner
<http://www.senate.gov/artandhistory/history/minute/The_Caning_of_Senator_Charles_Sumner.htm>

QUOTE:

On May 22, 1856, the "world's greatest deliberative body" became a combat zone. In one of the most dramatic and deeply ominous moments in the Senate's entire history, a member of the House of Representatives entered the Senate chamber and savagely beat a senator into unconsciousness.
