9. LOL Bartlett doesn't interpret it that way.
His interpretation is in need of a very special filter.

These guys are definitely on message.

" Let's forget what was said in the past and move on."

11. fill in the blanks: "Iraq is the __________ in the war on _________"

if you answered "shizzle" and "fanizzle," then you are correct.

12. TED KOPPEL FOR PRESIDENT!
He is giving those bastards hell. He was smooth as fuck, knew just what to ask (the Condi quote was perfect), and ended it on just the right tone that insinuiates into the mind: if they don't want bad coverage; then level with us.

18. The first part can be interpreted as a rather backhanded compliment...
but that could be due to the particular filter I'm using while listening to it

13. The killer is and I wish Ted would have brought it up
The Administration has constantly mixed talk of Iraq and Saddam with 911.

So a poll comes out and indicates 70% of US citizens think Iraq was involved with 911. There's a gd filter alright.

And these guys think their message isn't getting across? What the hell do they want, the other 30%?

with the public (and the press), then the good news will be more believable and speak for itself! AMEN!

Ted was like a bulldog who had a grip that wouldn't let go...though ever so politely! HA!

That greenhorn was no match for the master.

But the media has yet to take responsibility for using kit gloves on Bush early on (which Ted admitted tonight). So I would say to them the same thing Ted said to the White House. Maybe if the press had done their job early on (covering the U.S. unrest and resistance to the war) that Bush wouldn't have had the support to go to war and we wouldn't have been in this pickle.
But they, like so many in the Dem leadership, looked the other way or laid low because they ultimately wanted a piece of Iraq and saw dollar signs.

16. What's perfect is Ted's tone
Real nice, polite, extremely logical, extremely polite, not saying anything that isn't common sense.

It works better, I think than some of the (justified) open high anger I and most of the folks on here show. I was just impressed: it's a good way to argue.

(Yes, it's hard to restrain the anger in the face of the Bush regime, but it reaps rewards if you can. Witness the letter to a GOPer posted on the main DU page)

19. Of course....why is the media going to say they are messing up?
Answer: They aren't. If they agree with the Bush administration, then wham. They all the sudden going to have to answer why they are showing the negative side of the war. And as we know, the media isn't very self-critical.

22. So Koppel says Media treated bu$h with kid gloves?
NO SHIT. And better (way) late than never, I reckon. Too bad it had to be said so far away from Prime Time!

Note to Dan Rather: this is what Journalism looks like. REMEMBER?!?!?!

:argh:
