It used to really bother me

- That Microsoft was "trying to take over the world"

- That there had to be some "Reagan" memorial in every state

- That if I had only taken a chance, I mighta had stock options

- That my company didn't lease me a free BMW for personal use

- That I couldn't decide where to invest my bonus

- That the big national worry was the unlikely story that Clinton staffers pulled the 'W' key off all White House keyboards

- That if I worked for a company that offered a 401(k) that they might not contribute

- That I could take a better paying job, of which there were many, but it meant I'd have to fool around doing interviews, and it was easier to stay where I was.

- That gas was $1.30 or something a gallon.

- That so many people cared that the President got a blow job in office. I didn't care myself; I elected someone to be my President, not my Pope.

Know what? All those turned out to be the least of my worries.

1. Yup, it really sets off my conservative "friends" when I mention I wish
that the worst thing we had to worry about was Clinton's BJ. Some reason that just makes their heads explode.

3. It's been a bad decade for us Dems
First we had the Clenis crap to deal with and now the chimp in office who is so offensive in so many ways.

But I hear ya. I wish I hadn't been so uptight in the late 90s.

4. Yup. It is soul-wrenching to see a lovely country destroyed by purposeful
tribalism and hate. Very hard. You learn to rely on the bare necessities and put the rest of the crap aside. Be thankful you are on the side you are on. You will have nothing to regret.

Know what the ironic thing is? Without DU those might still be my worries. But DU is where you can find the truth. And once you do there is no turning back. There is no shutting it off. It is absolutely terrifying the realities before us.

(yes, I just signed up recently, but have been a constant daily DU'er for a year via lurking at work.)

8. So what are the worries now?
Never mind how microsoft, reagan, those who produce the gas, et al, are the ones that put us in the smelly mess we're in?

9. When I hear some RWer say something bad about Clinton,....
...I ask them if they think the economy is better now than it was under Clinton. I don't even wait for an answer...the stunned silence is all I need to hear.
