Bush to Cheney: Buh-Bye ?
http://bigpicture.typepad.com/writing/2003/10/bush_to_cheney_.html

This one is way under the radar, and, but for serendipity, I would never had caught it.

On the way hone tonite, Kitty, a fellow sufferer of the LIRR, showed me this little tidbit in (of all places) Liz Smith's gossip column in Long Island Newsday. Smith is a catty old biddy who's usually more interested in what celeb was out with who else's wife, whether this or that famous person has had more or less plastic surgery than Cher, and which of the Fab5 on Queer Eye for Straight Guy is not really gay; That's right -- she actually "in-ed" somebody.

Y'all know, the really important stuff.

But Liz surprises and amuses in today's Newsday, waxing eloquent (for Liz at least) on matters of great import to the body polity:

"IF I WRITE here that Team Bush reportedly commissioned private polls indicating that Dick Cheney is a drag on the GOP ticket and that the Halliburton connection doesn't help either, I suppose many of you will just chalk it up to my "liberal media bias." But no. I'm not the one who said this. It comes from The American Conservative, a magazine put out by Pat Buchanan and Taki Theodoracopoulos. (These guys say they started their mag to "save the right wing of the Republican Party.")

1. Doesn't Pat Buchanan often find himself at odds with this

administration though? I wouldn't put him in the same conservative category with the neocons that support Cheney. Two different animals.

7. They're just different gangs.
Buchanan is a truly disgusting man. He just happens to be the enemy of our enemy right now.

16. Predict Cheney out.....Tom Ridge in
Oh no not that.....Tom Ridge a close friend of Bush. When it appeared Gore won by 10,000 votes on election eve 2000 and the news was given to Bush as he sat with Bush 1 in that hotel room said on no somethings wrong and left the room to call brother Jeb in Florida.
.
Just then there was a news item.short..never repeated that reported that Governor Tom Ridge of Pa. said there would be a recount in his state......never happened but Ridge was willing to fall on his sword and if his buddy needed more votes he was ready willing and able. Now that is what I call a friend indeed.
.
With any luck and a lot of hard work we will be rid of both Bush and Cheney.

2. sometimes the truth is in the strangest places. on the other
hand, I see this as nothing more than another political smokescreen-- chinstrap can pull the strings much easier if he isn't public.

6. Oddly Enough
There are Republican dissenters. The Free Republic is stifling any criticism of Dimbo or RimJobs' fundraising and quite a few of their banned posters went over to Liberty Post.

It is refreshing to see some of those on the right waking up.

4. Cheney's Low Profile
Cheney thinks that hiding out counts the same as keeping a low profile. But he can't resist all that money! His greed may be his undoing.

5. I continue to predict: Cheyney OUT, Powell IN
That's why Powell suddenly decided to become a whore a year ago. Because he was offered the VEEPship.

Imo, it was part of the Cheyney recommendation in 2000 that he be the VP nominee partly because he could credibly step down for health reasons at the end of the first term giving the admin the ability to select a ticket balancer or a future successor in 04.

The Powell turnaround last year was so sudden, so extreme and so gleeful on Powell's part that this has to be his payoff.

This will be Bush's big surprise next September at the R convention.

We are going to have a real problem on our hands, because with a late R convention and a Powell VP on the R ticket, perhaps half of the black vote could be drawn to the GOP in the short term.

It may not happen this way. But we had better prepare for it because it could cost us another 4 years of this maniac.

8. But you know what Chris Rock said...
...there will NEVER, EVER, EVER....you know how they say "never say never" (here I'm paraphrasing Rock)? Well he's saying NEVER. NEVER EVER EVER be a black VP. You know why? Cuz some black guy will come along and shoot the president just so that they can be the guy responsible for having a black president.
This is according to Chris Rock.

11. Naw! Never in 100 light years
How dumb do you believe the blacks to be? My God! Give me a break! And after 60 minutes made a complete fool out of Colin last night, that many believe Powell will never be able to over come.

Colin Powell is a bigger liar than sneaky dickie.

13. How dumb are blacks? Not as dumb as whites. But...
...in a period of less than two months from announcement to election, with the WH busy in a advance lining up prominent black supporters and trotting them out, with all the hoopla such a move would create, it would be not unlike the Nixon opening to China.

9. This Cabal Would Never Acknowledge Their Weaknesses
Bold, brash and brazen has been their way all along, and will continue to be so. Dropping Cheney is an admission that something's wrong with the administration. They would never do that - it's part of the art of war.

I just can't see it. They will never admit to such a major mistake.

Plus, I've thought for a long time that Unca Dick is running the show. Now way he eliminates *himself*.

Edited on Thu Oct-16-03 01:44 PM by Merlin
Now he's going to sit and watch his candidate's poll numbers go all to hell and do nothing? Give me a break. They can read polls. Their idealogues, not idiots. Cheyney is a drag. Shrubbie is in trouble. What do you do? No brainer.

Not to mention the fact that if we go with Gen. Clark, this would be a near perfect retort on their part.

17. Plus, re-animation is expensive.
They are getting tired of thawing out his corpse and re-animating his ass whenever they need someone to go on Meet the Press and lie their decomposing ass off.

19. Any more buzz on the rumor of a few weeks ago
that Bush was going to dump Cheney and take on Lieberman on something called a Unity ticket -- would Lieberman do such a thing? I can imagine it, especially if these guys engineer another crisis/war and Cheney steps down for health reasons and Lieberman is talked in to forming such a ticket in order to avoid a divisive election. Thoughts anyone?

(We should probably out Lieberman now on the idea and let him know that we'd consider such a move, treasonous.)
