i have mixed feelings about it, on the one hand i'm slightly insulted i guess, but if you are actually insulted by this little verbal attack then you've been slightly punked. sticks and stones.

2. Patriotic!
Because I can stand up to any of their bull shit calls.

Just come back at them with Facts and the Truth, don't get involved in rhetoric, they get talking points for that and they stick with it regardless.

4. more revealing about the insulter than the insultee
as is often the case with insults.

they have a bizarre understanding of concepts like 'patriotism' and 'america'.

5. I used to be insulted by it...
but then I realized what fascists they are, and now I just get pissed that this country is being taken over by fascists. That, or I just laugh in their face. Depends on my mood.

6. I don't feel much
I have a mixture of amusement and irritation. It increases my desire to tell them to sit down and shut up. They are beginning to find that very irritating. But I'm amiable. They could shut up without sitting down too, and it would still satisfy me.

7. I don't like it
I feel attacked and belittled. Then I realize that the person who said it is uneducated and mostly unconscious. I want to tell them how hard I've worked to get the truth out there and then I remember that I can't be responsible for others thinking. I look forward to the day when the big heist is over with.

9. I just smile and ask them how many years have they served in the military.
Usually the answer is zero and when I tell them I've put in twenty they shut up. It's usually the ones who have never served in the military who call you unpatriotic.

10. doesn't bother me.
It is no different than when people tell me I am "Likudist" or "freeper" or "Mossad agent" because I support Israel being free of terror and have a "Jewish star" avatar. Or, when they tell me I am "ignorant" because I am from the South. Or, when I am told I have a "lifestyle" because I am gay. Or, told I am "delusional" because I have spiritual beliefs. Or told, if I don't support "so and so," I must be a "freeper," or "un-progressive," or a "group thinker."

Don't get me wrong, I do get pissed off when some of the aforementioned things are said about me, but I know I am a progressive liberal who respects others, up until they reach MY nose!

One more comment...who ever came up with "Sticks and Stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me," was a fucking liar! Words carry meaning, otherwise I could could call an African-American the "N" word and a woman the "C" word and no one would get upset.

So...sticks and stones can break your bones...but, words...they can scar you!

18. Due to personal experience I've always hated that phrase "sticks and
stones..." as well. Physical abuse that results in broken bones, bruises, scratches, etc will normally heal in time. The emotional abuse scars are gremlins we too often carry and fight with most of our lives.

It took a long time and some wonderfully supportive dear ones but I don't put up with bully tactics anymore and that, along with it being absolute bull puckey, is what calling me "unpatriot" is.

19. Ah, yes, "sticks and stones ..."
Thank you for saying this. I've always wondered why, if it's true that words can't "harm" and so therefore, aren't of concern, the framers of our Constitution put free speech in the First Amendment? It's always been an instance of cognitive dissonance for me.

12. I'm supposed to feel taken in by them?
Absolutely not. I treat people the way they treat me. If they want to be rude to me, they have no right to expect courtesy or humor in return. If they want to intrude on my day, they just lost the right to determine what is going to happen.

These are horrible people and I see no reason to take them lightly.

14. I was declared "Un-American" by a smug self-righteous freep
hiding behind an innocent grandmotherly persona. Bitch.

It hurt at the time but the tables have turned now that the majority of Americans agree with me... she won't dare call me out now, the sniveling coward.

21. I am patriotic
Being Patriotic dosen't mean butying your head in the sand and thinking everything is all right. Being Patriotic means finding and fixing the problems in your Country to make it a better place to live. Being Patriotic is the desire for your country to prosper.

You are not Patriotic when you think the PResident can do know wrong. You are not Patriotic when you think follow and beleive severything the current president says and does...

No wonder democrats are given a hard time by republicans. With this mind set you can give up on having another democrat as the next president.

I still love my country as a Patriot!

24. They are ignorant buffoons with no concept of real American history.
I am secure enough in my own knowledge of real American history to know that I, my anti-BushCo family members and friends are about about as far from being "unpatriotic" as one can get and stand in good company with REAL patriots like: Jefferson, Adams, Franklin, Henry, Roosevelt, etc.

Patriotism isn't about waving the flag or following the President blindly no matter what. True patriotism is loving your country enough to take a stand and speak out against tyranny, illegal wars, "reverse Robin Hood" budgets, rigged elections, etc where ever they are found and from whom ever they come from... up to and including the President.

Besides after listening to the RepubiCONs attack and belittle Clinton for 8 yrs I find it amazingly hypocritical... but lately that seems to be what the Republican party has disintegrated into, the party of hypocrisy.

25. I've been saying for a while
that Dems should totally go nuts with the whole red, white and blue theme. Now. Everywhere. Fly flags on our cars, have protests with flags and patriotic songs, etc.

The idea that we somehow are against our country is a huge chasm at the voting booth. Sure, diverse protests with a lot of odd things going on are a whole lot of fun (you know, caskets, FUGWB signs, lots of profanity and a bit of naked now and then) but if you want to REALLY freak out the RW, steal their theme. Blare Sousa from loudspeakers and give talks about FREEDOM.

Then we can all go home and get privately sto...

no....wait. shouldn't say that.
