Common Ground Collective is a local, community-run organization
offering assistance, mutual aid and support to New Orleans
communities that have been historically neglected and underserved.

Common Ground's teams of volunteers include: medical and health

1. I'm glad you found that. . .!
One of the graduate students at my university went down to help over Thanksgiving and took her truck with donated cleaning supplies and stuff. . .I'm sure they would be grateful for anything and they seem like they were formed by members of the community to help each other there.

Gosh..I forgot about their legal helpers - they've been appealing for help with landlord/tenant law - people have been getting evicted because they weren't there or working and didn't pay rent while the homes were flooded...and some landlords are jacking up the rents!

2. Thank you for the link, Kevin.
I want people to get angry about our fellow Americans' plight and donate! I know there's donation fatigue, but I can't bear thinking about people living in tents this winter. I'm sitting in my house and I'm cold!
I was going to buy a yak or chicken or cow for someone in Africa via Heifers Int'l, a very worthy organization in its own right, but this year, charity begins at home!
