Bush Discusses Murtha and Says Progress in Iraq is 'Amazing'

NEW YORK At a press conference with reporters along for his trip to China, President Bush found several questions relating to the current debate back in the States over the Iraq pullout plan pushed by Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.).

Among other things, he said "the progress in Iraq is amazing" and rejected Murtha's complaint about Vice President Cheney, who received five deferments during the Vietnam war, questioning the "backbone" of Iraq war critics who had served in battle. "I don't think the Vice President's service is relevant in this debate," Bush said.

He also hailed "fine Democrats like Senator Joe Lieberman share the view that we must prevail in Iraq."

14. Bush is an embarrassment.
Did you see this clown struggle with the doors in his press conference overseas? He couldn't run a one man home improvement company.

7. Amazingly profitable for Halliburton; amazingly bloody, violent, illegal
He's just playin witchu, doncha get it? If you are foolish enough to think "progress" refers to movement toward a lasting peace in the region, that's your problem!

He has such contempt for all the U.S. citizens/taxpayers he and his cronies are ripping off.

There's an amazing amount of sewage in the streets, and it's just amazing how many bullets those last-throes insurgents can put into the air.

20. See, it's all about perspective and how you define progress, isn't it?
That's the spirit - look at the illusionary bright side of things! Now you're catchin' on.

Cripes how I despise that man! Oh, and let's pooh-pooh the Cheney deferment comment even though it was in response to his criticism of Murtha- it's immaterial! (Nice to see Cheney's criticism at least alluded to in this piece.)

That whole "coward" scene on Friday seems to have been another set up by the GOP so the Idgit could come out and sound like a reasonable man above the fray in an effort to negate the effect of his Veterans Day attack speech. :puke:

12. I think he means Cheney's LACK of service. As in: had other priorities.
The fact that Cheney did everything he could to avoid the draft (short of going to Canada) may or may not be relevant to any discussion of who is and who isn't a sincere patriot with the best interests of the country in mind--but please, let's get the language straight. "Service" implies--means, actually--that he served. He didn't--in fact, he actively avoided serving.

21. I saw this photo on a Swedish online newspaper -
they're laughing all over the world from this photo.

"Yank, yank, tug, tug"
"can't get the door open"
"uh-oh, what to do now? Those reporters are still there, and I can't get away from their pesky questions". "crap"

What an idiot. He had that same look on his face when a turkey came up to him. You have to wonder: is this all a game to this fool? Just a clown's performance at the circus?

19. Amazingly bad maybe. If it's really amazing, how about delivering another
fake plastic turkey this week George. I'm sure all of our soldiers would like to tell you, all up close and personal, just how 'amazing' it is over there. Has the guy even been there in person since the last fake turkey photo op in 2003? They'd probably need an army at least as big as the one they've got on the ground there just to protect him if did visit again. Remember, he needed 2000 bodyguards to protect him when he just went to the South American economic summit. Nothing like quoting Joementum to convice folks the Dems are with you.
