Cheney: If U.S. Troops Come Home, Osama Bin Laden Will Rule Iraq

Vice President Cheney made a striking claim a few minutes ago at the American Enterprise Institute:

Those who advocate a sudden withdraw from Iraq should answer a couple simple questions. Would the United States and other free nations be better off or worse off with Zarqawi, Bin Laden and Zawahiri in control Iraq? Would we be safer or less safe with Iraq ruled by men intent upon the destruction of our country.

Cheney didn’t provide any evidence supporting his claim. The suggestion is that if the U.S. leaves, Iraqi forces would be completely incapable of defending the country against terrorists. Yesterday on ABC, Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld said people who doubted the capabilities of Iraqi security forces were “flat wrong”:

People who denigrate their competence and capability are flat wrong. They’re making a mistake. They either don’t understand the situation or they’re trying to confuse it, but the Iraqi security forces are well respected by the Iraqi people. They’re doing a very good job.

So Cheney either doesn’t understand the situation or is trying to confuse it. Take your pick.

Video of Cheney here...

3. More fear mongering
:scared: :sarcasm:

What makes him think that whomever is elected won't immediately be overthrown by some other faction?

We will be there forever under his line of thinking. Someone better call him out on this one and now.

5. hmm
We've been training the Iraqi troops for how long now? How can Iraq go from having an army capable of keeping Zarqawi, Bin Laden and Iran out of it's country to a country that can't. That's progress?

16. Yep, the old "would we be better off without...."
fill in a name! First it was Saddam, now it's bin Laden, Zarkawi, etc. etc. Yes, we'd be better off without a lot of people...but that doesn't mean we should run around the globe attacking everyone who's a big, bad bully!

11. They knew that with Saddam gone they could get their buddy Bin Laden in
much more easily.

BushInc just wants Bin Laden only after our forces are depleted more and the US is forced to depend on PRIVATE FIRMS like Blackstone and Halliburton for security forces once we are in fullblown, permanent Holy War.

21. You mean the guy who's related to Bush's good pals?
The guys who bailed out his business in Texas and hob nobs with his dad at Carlyle? Well heck, I'm sure that was the plot in the first place! I notice that despite YEARS of supposedly trying to catch Bin Laden, the relative of Bush's good friends, he's still free somewhere (was that him I saw sneaking into the White House for a late night meeting with the WHIG?) And when they got a little too close to catching him at Tora Bora, well heck, you just redirected the whole military to the Iraq thing.

What's wrong, Dick? Hasn't Halliburton made enough $$$ in Iraq yet? Your perversion not yet satisfied by the torture already committed? The oil boys pressuring you to increase the land takings in the ME so they can make MORE inflated oil $$$?

the troops by supporting Halliburton, Bechtel, etc. They're far too modest to be seen supporting the troops directly, with body and vehicle armour, etc. They're so misunderstood... I grieve for them.

Dick Cheney

They need him alive and to remain uncaptured

He's the reason we have to stay in Iraq? They'll never find him or kill him

He'll be our excuse to stay in Iraq forever

23. Who does he think he's kidding! Zarqawi is a myth
He must be getting desperate that the American people are about to cut the purse strings for his war games in the ME. He actually mentioned Osama!!

Lie, lie, scare the people, tell them boogie man stories so they stay scared!!

Well, a few things are now more scary than Osama, Dick. Like Hurricanes which have killed more Americans over the past few years than any terrorist could dream of. And we now know how little Dick and Bush care about American citizens, because they let them die in front of the while world.

Does he really not get it? He's DONE!! He's the worst person to be trying to tell us fairy tales. I know this because my previously Bush-supporting friends and family are finished with them and we can talk about politics again. They will not believe a word he says anymore than I do, and they voted for him twice.

Give it up, we need to bring the troops home before any more of them are killed. And we need to start doing something about terrorism, which he and his lying fake government has inflamed. And we need a new media that will tell the American people the truth so we never have to deal with this kind of lying, dangerous administration again.

We have so much to do, just go away, Dick and start worrying about your future ~ and get yourself some good lawyers. We'll listen to you when you're under oatg, you are lying POS and everyone, except the brain-dead, knows it.

28. In that event we have Cheney, et al, to thank for it.
After all, it was the cabal that removed the acknowledged ruler of a stable nation to create the anarchy that exists today.

This is total trite! Bullocks, I say!

Although I doubt Usamma will ever "rule" Iraq, it is blatantly obvious that this group can't do a decent job of ruling any country themselves without screwing the pooch. We are the country that needs regime change.

My apologies to all pooches out there :) I realize that if it were up to you, you'd never let Cheney anywhere near you.

Peace.

Which will happen either way.

Soon a series of bases will be completed, and we will "retreat" out of most of Iraq to guard ONLY the oil fields....creating a sort of "West Berlin" in the middle of Iran/Iraq.
