1. Excellent.....
I'm grateful she is persistent and brave enough to put herself out there on the front lines of this debate.

6. Yup! I'm wearing jeans and a white t
that says "Make Levees Not War." For what it's worth, we have Seats 63 and 64. I haven't been to Freeborn Hall so I don't know the set up exactly. I'm really excited to hear Cindy. I think she single-handedly got the anti-war effort going.

10. It was great to hear her
She's just as real and as kind and as funny as everyone says. She spoke what is in her heart and ours; that there is no 'noble cause' for our troops to be in Iraq. She said that the best thing * did for the peace movement was to refuse to talk to her back in August. She was asked if she thought * would come out and talk to her on Thanksgiving (she was leaving for Crawford in a day or so to spend time in Camp Casey again. She said that she didn't think * could ever admit to her what the real reasons are for us being in Iraq and she doubted he would ever do so.

Cindy didn't seem too impressed with Murtha's resolution (the pure unadulterated one, not the twisted RW version) because of the part of keeping 'death squads' off the coasts off Iraq just in case. She feels we just need to go. I also agree as long as we are there, there will be an insurgency. We are the cause of rallying terrorists and 'staying the course' won't change that.

I didn't go up to ask her a question because all I really wanted to say was that we really love and appreciate her and I wanted to let people who had serious questions have a chance. She knew we love her by our response to her!

There were a couple of brief and annoying interruptions. First off there was a handful of about 10 anti-Cindy protesters out front telling us not to "demoralize the troops." I'm like hell, demoralize? I want them home ALIVE! I'm sure that is what the soldiers want too. Like I said there weren't many freepers though. I catcalled to them to enlist! *Note to self: next time, take enlistment forms!*

Then when Cindy first got started, these two dorks in ski masks got up and unfurled a banner with a picture of Bin Laden and the words "Al Qaeda Approved" just to disrupt Cindy. What pussies. If they were so tough, they'd have done it with their faces in full view. We yelled at them to 'Go Enlist!' and they ran away like little girly men!

The third incident these two guys got up with a banner that said "Thank you Casey and the Other Soldiers." This one we couldn't figure out if they were for or against Cindy! Dorks anyway for disrupting her.

That kind of crap is not OK, not when I've paid money to hear a speaker and I have to have some of my event time taken up by some showboater who could have voiced their dissent out front on THEIR time, not MINE.

All in all, it was inspiration and wonderful to hear and see this courageous woman. I'm proud she's a California sister to me and I think we must grown strong-spined women out here. If I had been closer to those two 'terrorist' wannabees, I would have grabbed their stupid banner!

Yolo County has had a milder summer, a long warm and gorgeous autumn and our dumb tomato plants are still producing. In November!! I'm still wearing flip flops during the day. It's scary...it makes me think this planet is superheating and fast.

I wish you all could have been there with us! Cindy is a wonderful person and we should all be proud of her.

12. Good summary...
I missed you there (Apparently everyone wears blue jeans :)) but I did meet with Paul Burke (he was the UC alumni that spoke during the question period) after the talk and got connected with the Sacramento chapter of PDA (Progressive Democrats of America), so it's all good.

Fun - after the talk when my 11 year old son engaged the dorks outside with the signs. Wow, he held his own. I just stood back and listened. Enlistments forms would have been handy to have on hand.

13. My favorite student
who thinks anarchism is the answer asked Cindy about peacefully protesting oil companies. I keep trying to tell him, it's writing, phoning and otherwise sitting on elected officials that gets things done. Peaceful marches and rallies in huge numbers helps considerably. In time of war, it's more important to show numbers at anti-war rallies. But anarchy? No thanks! Peaceful demonstration is our right!

You should be proud of your son! War is not good for children and other living things. (Can't remember author other than the group 'Another Mother For Peace' from 1967 http://www.anothermother.org/index.html)

15. Was that the young student?
Junior high or high school? One young student made quite an impression with the people that I spoke with manning the tables up front. I suspect the youngster may have been the one that spoke up. In any event, if that is your student, you should be proud because he has potential to be a leader in the near future and hopefully you can keep him focused by taking the high road. I totally agree with your views on Peaceful demonstration and activism.

To jaw-jaw is always better than to war-war. - Winston Churchill

I am proud of my son, too, and know he is headed into a leadership role in the future, something his parents fell woefully short of.

16. He is astute beyond his 14 years
and he's in junior high. He was my student but now he's really just my friend. He was upset because his parents moved him to another junior high this year in Davis with a better GATE program than we had and he said I'm the only one he can rant to! He said his parents are sick of hearing it but his father did take him to see Cindy last night.

I think he's going to be a powerful voice for progressive causes. Like I said, he is wise beyond his years and thinks about things that most kids don't even understand, like corporate greed and how to counter it.

Thank you for the compliment...I will pass it on to him!

14. Thank you, Patchuli, for the report
I appreciate the details. Sounds as if there was a good
turn-out and that Cindy was given the respect and support
she deserves. Except for the brief episodes you described.

(Funny about the "girly men" scuttling away. Idiots)

Thanks again!

17. You're so welcome!
I only wish I could be a fly on the wall when * finds out Cindy's back outside his rancho! heheheee There's another "girly man" for you!

Cindy mentioned that finally the Dem leaders were "growing some but it's funny how the women Dems seem to have bigger ones than the men!" She also mentioned we need to work on Senator Feinstein...hmmmm. It is disturbing to know that Feinstein's husband makes money from the war!

19. AMBIEN (zolpidem tartrate)
Colin Powell admitted they all take it...

What concerns me are the side-effects that include memory loss or "amnesia.", and changes in behavior and thinking.

Take a look at all the potential problems associated with it and think where you have seen these symptons surface. Scary.

21. Colin Powell strongly disagrees with you. Scary!
Powell needs medication to sleep nights

by Al Kamen, Washington Post

Nov. 10, 2003

Secretary of State Colin Powell
described his killer schedule in
an interview Thursday with Abdul
Rahman Al-Rashed, a reporter for
a London-based Saudi newspaper
.

"So do you use sleeping tablets
to organize yourself?" Al-Rashed
asked.

"Yes. Well, I wouldn't call them
that," Powell said. "They're a
wonderful medication — not
medication. How would you call
it? They're called Ambien, which
is very good. You don't use
Ambien? Everybody here uses
Ambien.

22. It made me hear/see things that weren't there!!
Edited on Tue Nov-22-05 05:01 PM by ailsagirl
I kept seeing things out of the corner of my eye.
I started to make myself a grilled-cheese sandwich
(i.e., had it going in the frying pan) then went into
the other room and completely forgot about it (I salvaged
it in time)
I could hear noises like people whispering!! A friend
had the same experiences with it so I knew it wasn't
just me.

Never again!!

That IS disturbing that Powell said "everybody here
uses Ambien" !!

(Though it would explain a lot)
