Our marching orders for the next few weeks. Urgent!

The GOP and their shills are down to the last arrow in their rhetorical quiver: Democrats had access to the same intelligence information as the Bush administration and they joined their Republican brethren in authorizing the Iraq war. We're hearing this over and over and over, from the highest administration officials (Bush and Cheney themselves) to their minions in the MSM. If we're not tenacious, this idea will take root and will become "conventional wisdom."

We already know that after 9/11, Bush limited intelligence access to eight members of Congress. On Sunday, we had Bob Graham's op-ed stating that Congress certainly did not have access to the same information as the administration. We've learned that Colin Powell himself may have been deliberately deceived with regard to the reliability of the information he presented to the United Nations.

As usual, the Right has a simple message: Democrats had the same information as Bush and they authorized going to war. We need to make the rebuttal louder and more forceful: NO THEY DID NOT. The Bush administration misled its own insiders, they misled Congress, and they misled the American people. Repeat it early and often and refuse to be silenced! Make it a mantra. Shout your Republican relatives down. Write angry letters to editors and ombudsmen. Make calls to radio talk shows. Do NOT let this scurrilous GOP talking-point go unchallenged.

Simple message, "shrub lied. Dems mistake was believing a liar."

Stick to message. Say it loud. Say it clear. Say it often.
