Can we get the names of the newspapers which printed the
astroturf, along with the dates?

I would love to toss this around at freepin' dittododos by getting copies made of the letters from the papers.

(Cleveland Public Library main branch, along with several of the Cuyahoga County Public Library branches, and the main branch of the Akron Summit County library have good back issues of the papers, plus many in microfiche.)

1. Unfortunately, since this was an attempt at faking "grassroots"
the only list is probably in the possession of the guy who started it. Only those newspapers who come forward and say they received a letter are likely to be known. You could probably get a sense if you knew the hometowns of everybody in the battalion, but that's about it.

I'd guess somebody is investigating this, and I'm sure more papers will come forward as they realize what happened.

2. Go to Google
and search for a phrase that was in the letter. That might help!

3. That only works if they actually printed it.
There are probably quite a few newspapers which received letters but didn't print them.
