"Anybody here seen my old friend John?"

Anybody here seen my old friend John?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people but it seems the good they die young
I just looked around and he's gone

..........

Abraham, Martin, and John

Anybody here seen my old friend Abraham?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people but it seems the good they die young
You know I just looked around and he's gone

Anybody here seen my old friend John?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people but it seems the good they die young
I just looked around and he's gone

Anybody here seen my old friend Martin?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people but it seems the good they die young
I just looked around and he's gone

Didn't you love the things that they stood for?
Didn't they try to find some good for you and me?
And we'll be free
Some day soon, it's gonna be one day

Anybody here seen my old friend Bobby?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
I thought I saw him walkin' up over the hill
With Abraham, Martin, and John

5. Sure enough...beautiful song isn't it?
I forgot it was sung by Dion. I remember when it fist came out and like many people was touched immediately when I heard it. Unfortunately in many cases, the good do seem to die young.

3. Brother Robert would have been 80 this month.
He preferred generosity to bombs. Could have made the world a more tolerant place.

4. It was a huge national tragedy when Bobby went down.
What a difference maker he would have been! I guess they couldn't allow him to live & lead us to a better place.

8. Now I will be maudlin all day.
The saddest words
Of tongue or pen
Are these four words
It might have been

We had big dreams
We made big plans
How could they slip
Right through our hands

Instead of tearing
Our own hands to pieces
Why don't we try
To right what we've done wrong

It's not too late
To set things straight
Let's never say
It might have been

Instead of tearing
Our own hands to pieces
Why don't we try
To right what we've done wrong

It's not too late
To set things straight
Let's never say
It might have been

NEIL YOUNG

11. I thought the same thing when I visited his grave in September.
RFK lived and died before I was born, but it still saddens me to think what might have been -- especially considering the "leadership" we've had (or lack there of) since his time.

10. OK, I'm crying now.
Every time I hear that song, the tears flow. It hurts to think of how much our country, and the world lost. It hurts more to be pretty sure that elements within the government were behind the murders. Imagine if RFK had gone on to become president. Imagine if Dr. King had been the living example of religious and moral leadership. I need to stop now. Hope still remains in the Pandora's box that is wide open.

12. Rest in Peace, John
That song breaks my heart. I was born the day before the 3rd anniversary of his death. My mother was so afraid I was going to be born on the 22nd.

20. I have the book
Edited on Tue Nov-22-05 02:45 PM by FreedomAngel82
"The Day John Died" (John junior) and there are pictures in it and one of my favorite pics is of John and John junior outside and John is sitting on a metal white bench and John junior is saying something to him and you can see John laughing at what he's saying and playing with him. The caption says that John couldn't ever understand what John junior said at that age but he still went along. :P I thought that was so cute. And another one is after John died and a reporter is following them around and John junior heckles the guy.
