Dean's FEC report taller than Dean himself - Shows slow "Burn Rate"
http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/10/16/mgrind.day.money/index.html

You know you've had a good fund-raising quarter if the financial report being submitted to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) is taller than the candidate submitting it.

And as if Howard Dean needed any more reason to gloat, the 6-foot-tall, 12,000-page document detailing his fund raising and spending activity from July through September confirms what we pretty much knew all along: Dean is on top in all the "good" categories (such as fund raising and cash-on-hand) and near the bottom on all the "bad" ones (like debt ratio).

The only big surprise was that although the former Vermont governor led the Democratic field in spending for both the quarter and the campaign to date, he has one of the lowest so-called "burn rates" (the ratio of money spent to money raised), second only to Wesley Clark, who after only two weeks in the race didn't really get much of a chance to do any quality campaign shopping.

Also check out the list of Celebrity contributors at the bottom of the article, and see which candidates they gave to.

1. Gee, Spock gave the max to Dr. Dean.
Impeccably logical, as usual.

Kucinich got $$ from Alf. Not surprising considering that they have similar ears.

5. Dean's list is the best so far
but, Jim Belushi? I thought he was a repuke? Maybe I'm wrong here. He did work with Al Franken in 'Trading Places'.

Janeane Garofalo, I just love her! LOVE HER! Call me Janeane. :)
Leonard Nimoy is just too cool. Two Simpsons appearances! "Hey Spock, what do you want on your hot dog?", "Surprise me!"
Robin Williams, my favorite and possibly best comedian of all time.

6. Notice Clark has the most producers and directors
Bochco, Levinson, Lear, etc.

It appears the idea of a general in charge sits well with all the "suits" in Hollywood.

Kind of makes you wonder what kind of job he'd do with the federal budget. I bet it wouldn't be nearly as full of red ink as the BU$H adminstration's budgets have been.

9. There's something to be said for being frugal
Let's face it, the guy comes home from campaigning and does his own laundry. He won't even take shirts to the cleaners, even though his wife tells him to.

This guy isn't going to let a dime be spent that doesn't have to be. I just want to know if he is the kind of guy who continually patches the roof of his house to avoid the cost of reroofing or is he the type who has set money aside specifically for that project.

There's a difference between frugal and miserly.

11. Deans budgeting in Vermonat
indicates he's the kind who sets aside money for a rainy day
or in your example, a new roof.

14. A yup
As he stated in his Economic Policy Speech...

"...I pledge to the American people that a Dean administration in Washington will do what the Dean administration did in Vermont: we will balance the budget. In Vermont – the only state in the country whose constitution doesn’t require a balanced budget, I balanced the budget for eleven straight years. We even set aside a rainy day fund for use in the bad years..."
