Will corporate personhood become a thing of the past?
The most active Democratic Club in California is taking up this very issue tonight. The Patrick Henry Democratic Club will be voting on two resolutions on this issue. What difference can a club make? The PHDC follows up on its resolutions. It has an excellent history of having its resolutions adopted by the state party. AB 1121 is one example of a bill that was created after members of the PHDC got the CDP to call for specific legislation. This members of club has pushed a great many issues from the voter-verifiable paper trail to calls for withdrawal from Iraq. Check out their website at patrickhenrythinktank.org for information on some of their past activities.

We need to do this nationally!

We also need to ban corporate lobbying!

It is the only way I see us being able to gain back control of the government.

7. That would be good. Corporations need a different designation.
They do constitute corporate entities that need legal definition. But our individualistic culture doesn't believe in corporate entities, only individuals, so they got defined as individuals. That gives them too much power.

8. Both resolutions were adopted unanimously.
One alternatively calls for either the end of the corporate personhood fiction or for corporations to receive the same type of sentences a real person would receive for similar acts. It equates ownership of s subsidiary to violation of slavery laws and specifically mentions possible sentences of the death penalty and being cut off from society. Of course, all the members of the group are opposed to the death penalty but, if persons are subjected to the death penalty, why not corporations?

12. That would be nice... but unfortunately I doubt it ...
at least not any time soon. I think this may be an issue for the supreeme court or congress in which case I just don't see it being reversed.

Anyone know more about the specific laws reguarding this?
