5. Is this preacher a pacifist?
He's the most prominent minister in a Bible Belt town in one of the reddest, angriest, hottest-headed states. Yet he says it never even crossed his mind to hit this guy back. He's too much of a Christian to.

I wonder what his position is on Iraq.

Is he pacifistic, like all the other prominent protestant preachers in the Bible Belt?

Har de har.

8. Yeah, he's pacifistic, as in way too much of a chickenshit to defend himse
lf.

His outfit buys commercials on local TV EVERY FUCKING DAY and a fair percentage of them talk about the "lies of eeevulution." He's a protege of the Anal Roberts bunch.

7. Sorry. That's not funny.
Assaulted by a deranged person. I don't see the humor in that.

10. Joe Daugherty- No more mamby pamby, watered down Christianity?
August 9th, 2005, 03:52 PM
Rod has lots of problems but it's great to hear him say this. Billy Joe Daugherty (originally associated with Oral Roberts) does a quick commercial during one of the local stations noon news hour. It's basically your typical, mamby pamby, watered down Christianity. But in the last 2 weeks on his commercials he's spoken out against abortion and homosexuality. I couldn't believe it and was thrilled. Change has to start somewhere. Homosexuality is becoming such an issue where many are finding themselves having to get off the fence one way or another.

13. to thus hasten the coming and return of Messiah- THE MILLENNIUM COUNCIL
Edited on Tue Nov-22-05 06:46 PM by IanDB1
THE MILLENNIUM COUNCIL - FEAST OF PENTECOST - MILLENNIUM PROCLAMATION
"We the undersigned proclaim that the mission of the Millennium Council is to serve as a coalition of leaders dedicated to the biblical foundation of the Judao-Christian faith who recognize the need for unity within diversity as we enter the twenty-first century.

We serve as a cohesive family of Christian leaders that affirms the beauty and uniqueness of our differences. Furthermore, we believe there exists a divine plan that sanctions diversity, in cultural expression, creed, color and experience in all of God's children. We serve as a council of leaders which will focus its goals through international networks of denominations, associations, and fellowships to harness and provide direction for the enormous spiritual tide continuing to be released through revivals throughout the world on all continents. This energy will culminate at a global worship platform in Jerusalem the birthplace and foundation of the Judeo-Christian faith. We ask all believers in every home, cell group, community, church and synagogue to respond to the call echoed throughout the world for a true expression of love, true unity, harmony and reconciliation among the races, Jew and gentile, genders and ethnic diversities, to thus hasten the coming and return of Messiah.

Finally, we proclaim the need to restore the Church to its historic roots; the return of the branch to the root and the healing of the wounds of history through proactive love and obedience to the commands of God."

11. Pretty sad story....
when people have to resort to violence.

Some people walk a tightrope here when talking about "revolution" and "violence".

Well, here's an example of someone that crossed that line, for whatever reason. Do you think he's swayed anyone over to his side with this act?

My guess is that all he did was galvanize support on the "other" side.

March 1999 marked the beginning of a brilliant career. It was then that Bubp became pro-bono legal counsel for Adams County for the Ten Commandments, an ad-hoc Ohio group formed to keep 10 Commandments monuments displayed in local public schools after the ACLU filed a lawsuit demanding their removal. Bubp was assisted by a Who's Who of Christian right leaders, including James Dobson, Don Wildmon, Judge Roy Moore and Jay Sekulow. The campaign was organized primarily by Rev. Rob Schenck, a former leader of the militant anti-abortion group Operation Rescue, who was once detained for threating Bill Clinton's afterlife at the National Cathedral. (Read my profile of Schenck for the Washington Monthly for the full story on this, and many more bizarre stunts).

15. Would've been funnier if it were a member of his congregation who flipped.
But since it was an assault by an alleged stranger, well, that could happen to any of us.

Granted, Rev. "Billy Joe" is your basic hate-'em-all phony-fundie "minister," although I wouldn't wish his physical injury -- but that's just me.
