1. You ought to add a "I'm not a Kucinich supporter" option
It might stop non-Kucinich supporters from voting for the candidate of their choice.

Unless you do so, I abstain.

2. Is that an ultimatum, goobergunch?
And your idea probably wouldn't "stop non-Kucinich supporters from voting for the candidate of their choice."

4. Goobergunch is right, BP
This is wide open for gaming. Maybe a repost as a question rather than a poll would be better.

For the record, I'm leaning Clark, with Kerry, Edwards, Dean in no particular order.

7. There was a Who will Graham supporters support poll in P/C
which got completely hijacked. I don't want it to happen here.

5. Does the 87B vote factor in at all?
that may leave you with 2...or 1, depending on how which vote you'd support.

11. probably not that much
I'm not a single issue voter, and my second choice is by definition going to be a pragmatic one.

8. You ought to add none of the above
All of them have their drawbacks, even Carol mosley Braun and Al Sharpton. While I have never voted for anything but a Democrat in my life, I can't get too enthusiastic about any of the candidates other than Kucinich. I know, how about "Unnamed Democrat, as opposed to Bush*"?

9. I'm a big Edwards fan
My solid second choice is definitely Edwards. He and DK are firmly entrenched and it would take a lot to get me to change that order. One of them would have to support the eating of children or something to make me switch.

Then...

Probably Kerry

Then..

Maybe Sharpton or Dean or Clark.

I did like Bob "The Deranged Moderate" Graham quite a bit. Still do.

Come to think of it I like all our candidates.

For the record I get the feeling we will get a Kerry-Edwards ticket or vice versa.

GREEN:

So many kucinich supporters have vowed to go green if he doesn't win.

That might be an informative option to add. Some have express such a sentiment, though I'm not sure how widespread that sentiment is.

19. it's nothing of the sort
MOST Kucinich supporters will vote dem if/when he drops out.

Show me your poll results, because of all the K supporters I've spoken to, and based on what I heard from a Kucinich meetup, and based on what I've seen on this board, I know of a small minority who won't go green if K loses.

Hey, I want to be wrong. But so far, my personal experience backs up what I'm saying.

22. My personal experience
I've met 2 out of the many many Kucinich supporters who said they would vote green if he wasn't the nominee.

Could be me wrong, but I certainl don't see what you (and others) have claimed about DK supporters

39. The only DK supporters I've spoken to
that have vowed to "Go Green" if he doesn't win are the Greens!

Many Greens are coming to the dems for the specific purpose of supporting DK. Some are waiting for the general election; most are reregistering as dems to support him in the primary. It shouldn't be a surprise that if someone else is nominated, some will go back to the party they feel best represents them. What should be noted is that Dennis is pulling many, many disenfranchised ex-dems, 3rd party members, and just plain non-voters back into the party. If you believe it's more important to move toward the middle to capture those voters, that probably isn't important. If you believe that the dems have left too many progressives behind, and that they ought to be including them, Dennis is offering a chance to do just that.

14. Looks Like We're not a factor...
The numbers skew the same as the big DU poll - Kerry replacing DK for third place. And they begin to look more like the national polls.

I think it's because we DK supporters are not factoring in "electability" in our top decision, but we are for our second choices. At least that goes for me and my second choice - Dean. It also indicates a strong ABB sentiment that should put to rest any worries about us Kucinich supporters.

20. if dennis drops out...
i'm left with the most likely winner... lesser of two evils tactical voting... clark.

Its not saying that i would not myself apply to Mr. Clark's administration to support him and his office in every way once he wins... just my vote for him is really a vote against BFEE, just like i hated clinton but thought him better than dole or whoever he ran against in 92... i forgot who it was... oh well.

21. Can't answer
Waay too early. Probably Sharptopn. Both Dean and Kerry are still iffy for me.

Clark is definitely out.

I'm not ABB. I'm 100% Bush Out but not to the point of accepting anything or anyone just because it will be better than Bush.

My expectations aren't as low as the DLC's and I won't allow the DLC to drag them down that much.

33. Thank you, dweller!
The man just announces and everyone is circling like buzzards already.

I only have one choice and that is DK. If he doesn't win the nomination I will vote the Dem (please don't let it be Dean, Lieberman, or Clark!) and then leave to help establish a stronger Green Party in my state.

It will be the last time the Dem party lets me down.

There's always the write-in vote.

I'm tempted to go Dean as #2 candidate.

If Lieberman or Clark become nominated, I won't know what I'll do.

Dean because he truly has the passion and ability to challenge Bush, and Kerry because I like his policies.

30. No second choice
I'll vote for Kucinich in the primary - Green in the general election. I live in Montana where a Democratic vote for president is a wasted vote. I'll use mine to help build a viable progressive third party.

32. yes
This is an extremely important point apparently lost on much of the ABB crowd. If your state is not really in play at the national level, then you can vote conscience knowing it won't make a wit of difference. For example, I never had to plug my nose and vote for William Jefferson Clinton since his victory in Minnesota was assured. Because of our electoral system, strategic voting such as greendog suggests is entirely viable and defensible. Yet many posters on DU don't seem to really get it. What gives?

there is no one really after Dennis, who inspires me like he does...so I'm not voting orchoosing second best.

Would I vote 3rd party- probably not...but there is no one right now I would "choose" besides Kucinich...he's not going anywere for quite awhile so I don't have to decide tonite, now do I?

Peace

36. Well, my
2nd choice would be CMB; my 3rd probably Sharpton. But I don't see DK dropping out before they do, so I didn't choose them. As a matter of fact, I don't see him dropping out at all.

Should it happen, I would go with my 4th choice: Edwards.

37. At the moment I would choose Dean as 2nd choice
because he truly is running a grassroots campaign which is surprising the pundits and the Dem insiders as they watch how successful it has been in numbers (database building) and funding. So he looks like a winner.

It is early yet. We need to see how the Iowa Caucus turns out and the New Hampshire vote and South Carolina. I think Kucinich will stay in at least through one or two or all of these first votes. By that time, it should be pretty clear who the eventual leader is likely to be.

I expect Clark to fade as the negatives continue to filter in and he is no longer "the new kid on the block." Or for some reason, Dean could make a bad stumble from which he can't recover. As I say, it is early yet.

40. At that point, I would have to be practical:
who has the best chance to defeat he-whose-name-must-not-be-spoken. I would certainly take his advice, but if he endorsed a weak candidate, I'd choose Kerry, probably. There really isn'tt a candidate I can't endorse, but it will require a stronger stomach to support Dean.
