Explosion Ruins Water Supply for 4 Million in China
http://www.iht.com/articles/2005/11/23/news/china.php

The above link is to a new story about a recent chemical plant explosion. It has seriously contaminated the entire water supply for 4 million people in China. All water is shut off for at least a week, and probably much longer.

This same type of event could happen in many areas in the US. Each water system is supposed to complete planning to prevent this type of contamination. However, that planning is often simply an inventory, and doesn't actually prevent anything. One of the biggest hazards is from chemical truck or tanker rail car spills near reservoirs.

Ask questions in your local community about what is really being done to protect water supplies and to have alternative water supplies on-standby
