2. Flamebait, but:
Someone in my office used to work on the hill and she says Murtha is a crook and that he has done unsavory things with money. Personally, I am certainly willing to forgive him all that if he saves the lives of our troops.

4. Really? Someone in my office says Cheney is a devil worshipper
and he eats babies for breakfast. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

6. it's not "someone in my office"
it's the former communications director for Pelosi. I tend to listen to her. I'm not saying the man is the devil, but I thought it would be worth mentioning, since we are all about keeping the integrity in the party. We don't want to whitewash what our party members have done-- that's what the other side does.

16. yet you neglected to clarify "someone in my office" until challeged.
therefore it smacks of ....oh I don't know.

if you want to jump on the repug bandwagon and swiftboat Murtha with vague, unsourced attacks....hey, knock youself out.

no, I mean literally...knock yourself out. a minisledgehammer should work just fine.

20. Sorry.
All I meant to do was to raise a flag that you know, we are not all beyond reproach. I'd still rather you attack me than him and let me tell you that when she told me, it made me cringe because I was all set up to turn him into our newest hero.

I have decided that he still is our newest hero, regardless of his flaws.

I just wanted to prevent us from blindly defending people without knowing that yes, in fact, some skullduggery does go on in our own party. Remember, there are people who think Tom DeLay is completely innocent, too. And I do understand where that comes from. It's hard to go back and say "Well, I don't know about that aspect of him" once you've thrown your weight behind someone. But we expect Republican voters to open their eyes and see who they are sleeping with; we should try to keep our eyes open as well.

Not condemn him, mind you. Just keep our eyes open.

And the reason I did not mention the co-worker's position is because it was such a high-level position that I didn't think she'd want to be identified. I am kinda regretting it now-- she wouldn't have wanted me to go around repeating her inside information. Perhaps I shouldn't have posted any defense at all; I shouldn't have sold her out to save my own skin. But I am really afraid of us, now that we are gaining momentum and power, become blind to our own party's weaknesses and corruption. We're lucky in that it's not a pervasive culture like it is on the other side, but it exists, and it probably exists in some people we'd rather not see it in. So I felt it was important to point that out.

I hope I didn't really make you so so so mad.

22. I don't "do" heroes.
I've learned that hero-worship leads to perpetual disappointment.

12. OK How About Swan Lake
On this day she swore to the big Polly Pocket Doll in the sky that she was a swan. No really she was a swan. Could she be lying to me?

She also claims that the person to her right is Her Husband Sarah. More lies????

3. Impeccable timing, wouldn't you say?
I heard about this the day after Murtha's press conf announcing his proposal. There was a couple of talking heads speculating that he had gotten wind of the dirty tricks and decided to go for it with the proposal. Personally, I have no clue if this had anything to do with his timing or not. It doesn't make any difference.

But after their vicious attacks, followed by Bush/Cheney backpeddling, and then this bit of news rising for the noise machine...well, the GOP keeps digging their hole deeper and deeper and deeper!

Edited on Wed Nov-23-05 12:17 PM by Catrina
ethics probe into his unlawful possession of Halliburton stock options, and the huge profits he just made as a result of the war he started, also, I'm sure? You know, the violation of the law that says no public official can hold stock that might be a conflict of interest, and the other law that says a VP must divest himself of such stock, or the other one that says he must reveal such holdings to Congress?

Those same Repubs will also be starting a probe into Sen. Frist's possible ethics violations regarding insider trading?

And Tom Delay's possible ethics violations in the Abramoff affair, and of course, possible money laundering, with which he has already been charged?

Or will they be probing Ney, Hastert, Burns, Blunt for ethics violations, since they all are under suspicion now in the Abramoff affair? Or possibly Bush, whose campaign received $100,000 dollars from Abramoff?

I'm heartened to see that they are finally concerned about ethics in Congress ~ for a while, after they changed the ethics rules so that Tom Delay would not be thrown out of Congress for the bribery and threatening of another Congressman, I thought that they weren't all that concerned about eithics.

My sincere apologies to them. I look forward to all those ethics probes in the near future, and many, many more, after Scanlon begins to talk!! Nice to see them finally find their conscience.

Oh, and if they need any help, I'm sure we'd all be delighted to furnish them with a list of who needs to be 'probed', in case they miss anyone! It's a long list. This new-found concern for ethics should keep them busy for years to come.

Mmm, just wondering which Republican might be qualified to begin such a probe? I mean, is there even one who isn't already being probed by some special prosecutor somewhere? I suppose there might be one or two.

not just verbally but they will do everything in their power to destroy you.
KKKarl Rove type tactics have completely swallowed the entire republican part.

23. Old News
According to this article from Raw Story:

"According to a June 13 article in The Los Angeles Times, the fiscal 2005 defense appropriations bill included more than $20 million in funding for at least 10 companies for whom KSA lobbied. Carmen Scialabba, a longtime Murtha aide, works at KSA as well."
