Limbaugh, Carlson claimed Marine referenced by Schmidt is serving in Iraq
Limbaugh, Carlson falsely claimed Marine referenced by Rep. Schmidt is serving in Iraq

http://mediamatters.org/items/200511220016

November 21, nationally syndicated radio host Rush Limbaugh and MSNBC host Tucker Carlson defended Rep. Jean Schmidt's (R-OH) controversial remarks regarding Rep. John P. Murtha (D-PA) by falsely claiming that Col. Dan Bubp, the Marine Reservist whom Schmidt purported to quote, is currently serving in Iraq. In fact, Bubp, a Republican, is currently serving in the Ohio House of Representatives and is a colonel in the Marine Reserves. Media Matters for America has found no evidence to suggest that he has ever served in Iraq. Bubp has since denied making the comments that Schmidt attributed to him.

6. Why should they when, for the longest time, no one NOTICEABLY called them
on their lies?

And by the time they have been called on their BS, they've already moved on to the next fib.

31. Sad thing is, they don't have to.
They can pull whatever they like from their ass and their audience will lap it up. (And lapping anything from Limbaugh's ass can't be healthy...)

33. I would listen to hear Rush lie his way around it
I'm not sure he will do it, but I imagine it will be something like "more lies from the radical left, now slandering the career of a military hero who is serving our country on the front lines." And, of course, he will ask the caller to prove that this guy didn't serve in Iraq (which is impossible to do).

But whatever he does, it will be entertaining

You can still hear their audio of this on their

all things considered.

16. What's really sad is
Limbaugh and Carlson can say whatever they want because no one listening/watching is well read enough to know when they're lying. These guys commit fact errors every day. Hannity is the worst. Check out Media Matters for America. Hannity lies with impunity.
But his audience isn't educated enough to know.
That's how they survive.

34. Rush paved the way in a sense for casual lying
& I think it is deliberate in that they have long passed the day when they may have cared if something was the truth or not. The message is all that matters, not the truth. I hold them in their turn responsible for a the deterioration of honesty in journalism and public discourse.

that fiasco blew up in. It's got legs! like a spider. every evil twit who's tried to make hay with it has gotten burned.

It almost makes me believe that real human integrity might have a chance against republican evil after all.

Now we have to do our part on liberal radio and tv and kick these people in their tacos with these blunders over and over and over.

I'm pretty sure I heard Hannity say that at least once.

They lie to improve their "lie." (golf term folks, means moving the ball where you can hit it better, to improve your "lie.")

36. I could swear I heard it on CNN
The afternoon that it was going down, I'm pretty sure somebody on CNN referred to him as serving in Iraq. That time of day it could have been Blitzer, but I'm not sure it was him. Blitzer talks out his ass all the time if he doesn't have enough details, though.

If:
Carlson
Rush
Hannity
Savage
O'Reiley (sp) I don't listen to him, so I'm not sure if I'm spelling his name correctly

or any of the other Right-Wing radio jerks, ever served in the Military?
I'm really curious. They preach and discredit honorably decorated veterans as if they have a "right" to do so.
