"...that's just the nature of democracy. Sometimes pure politics enters into the rhetoric."
--George W. Bush, Crawford, Tx., August 8, 2003

3. "Here, words and their meaning have completely parted ways."
Paraphrasing (could be exact quote but it's from memory so, I'm not sure), George Orwell from his essay 'Why I Write.' It's a scathing essay in typical fashion for Orwell, if you haven't read it, find a copy.

7. Sweet Jebus
that first quote reminds me of the opening to "Who needs the Quickie Mart" song from the Simpsons.

Hope he takes Poppy's lead and pukes on a Japanese diplomat!

8. Orwellian...
People hear what they want to hear.

I'm sure that all the right wingers understood what he thought he said completely because they weren't paying attention to exactly what he did say.

When "messages" like these resonate with a section of the population, we really do have an uphill battle.

Maybe watch the catchwords and referents... like the reference to the golden rule and the words "democracy" and "security" and then use them ourselves, but accurately?
