Did CNN really do that to Cheney?
Forgive me if this has been posted, I haven't been around much. But was this true?

http://www.gawker.com/news/politics/cnn-promotes-dangerous-illusion-138761.php

And I have a hard time believing that's just a technical error. I have NEVER seen an X flashed on the TV screen, much less repeatedly.

2. That Gawker link is from Nov. 22, so it would be a bit old
as far as news goes.

But I was wondering if anyone here saw it on CNN and caught this for themselves. Supposedly CNN flashed it repeatedly.

3. I didn't see it
but I saw a story on CNN about how it was accidental. They did an interview with the technician who claimed it was a 'glitch'.
So it did happen. Accidental or not will likely never be known for certain.

8. Supposedly it happened
with no human intervention. I like to think of it as intelligent design.

9. I Saw The Same Thing.... Big Time Apology!!
It matters not whether it was done on purpose, the only thing that matters is that THEY made such a BIG thing about the apology! The technician et al went into some detail as to just HOW this happened!

And that folks WAS the NEWS!!

CNN has done a little better of late, but I'm sooooooo sure they really did have a glitch! Hell, they may have even staged the whole thing just so THEY COULD apologize!!

I'm so cynical, but who cares???

5. YES! But they claim it was a "glitch" in one of their pieces of equipment
Edited on Sat Nov-26-05 07:04 PM by Up2Late
They apologized and said that it happened "without any humans involved" and was only on the screen for a total of 0.7 seconds.

Oh, did I mention that it happened twice!?!

"without any humans involved" yeah, right.:eyes:

That's no glitch. Someone did that on purpose.

6. it happened - switching error
more operator error than technical. it did not happen numerous times other than the fact CNN replayed it often explaining what happened.

18. Who gives a shit? Cheney & others have diminshed CNN and all MSM.
They cannot fight back or express their opinions? Bullshit! They are in business and if they lost huge amounts of viewers to the MSM diminishment - they have the rights of anyone to tell the story. And put up graphics. Cause got knows they never put up the graphics of dead soldier coffins under orders.

So someone, somewhere, perhaps in the graphics department made a graphic that spoke to Cheney & his role. Of making the whole CNN seem useless and uninformative. Let me cry for Cheney  Cause someone in the "art department" had issue with him. Perhaps the issue was as simple as wanting to marry his or her god-dam spouse. Cheney pretended he wasn't against it morally all the while building up a politic that hated gays across the land.

Putting an X across Cheney is news. News of how people think.

19. Yes, it's 100% true but they said the 'X' was a cue for thier logo that
was going to be following Cheney's speech. However, Letterman did something so funny with it - after the x's he added red devil ears, then a devil tail, then messed with the audio so Cheney's voice was all deep and devil like then added flames. THAT WAS FUNNY. CNN's 'x's' were just a error.

25. That's not really an article.
It's just one of drudge's developing stories. If the operator was fired for the reason drudge said, then I'll have to agree with the termination. But I'll wait and find out the real story.
