I'm opposed to loans for Iraq
Edited on Thu Oct-16-03 10:37 PM by Loyal
Here's why: I was against the war, but I recognize that the U.S. has destroyed a lot of the infrastructure of a country that was no threat to us. I hear some Republicans talking about how Iraq should pay us back for "liberating" them, and how we should make it loans. Well... The Iraqi people never asked us to come in. They never asked for us to kill 10,000+ of their brothers and sisters. It is downright shameful to ask them to repay us for rebuilding their country that BUSH destroyed. I am not sure that we should give it to them in a grant, either, but I DO know that loans are unfair.

2. I Think They Have It All Backwards.
It should be a $67 billion grant for Iraqi reconstruction and $20 billion for continuing operations.

3. Nah
Cut out all the shit for Halliburton and you can put it towards getting our troops SOME DECENT FUCKING FOOD. I swear, I am sick and tired of hearing stories about troops having to pay for airline tickets for R&R, having to pay for their food while in the hospital. No movies over there? DoD should be paying for TV's and DVD players to entertain the troops on their breaks. How about some popcorn too and live entertainment? We're asking them to risk their lives and we can't even provide them decent food and entertainment? This just SUCKS!

4. Not just writing home for food and bottled water,
some of them have been writing home to have their families purchase the inserts for the kevlar vests. They send these people into battle without protection? And that POS Cheney is in an undisclosed location? Make him pay rent and use the money that houses him and that woman of his to give our soldiers what they need.
