Here's how you know gun control is the way to go...
Mallard Fillmore is pissing and moaning about it this Sunday....

By the way, what the foul fowl doesn't tell his humor-challenged aufdience is that, enraged by the success of the Brady Bill abd the Assault Weapons Ban, the gun lobby and the Republican Congress has forbidden the CDC from considering any evidence that gun control works since 1998.

1. my local paper
got rid of mallard fillmore. one of the others got rid of state of the union (another far right wing comic that did nothing but bash democrats and praise bush). in its place they are running Calvin and Hobbes rerun strips. a much better use of the space IMHO.

15. Believe it or not, there are right wing "comic" strips
even LESS funny....

What I find astonishing is that most weeks (like this one) the son of a bitch who draws it doesn't even try to be amusing...it's just straight-out right wing propaganda run through a cartoon duck...

virtually every strip boils down to "liberals suck". no humor. no setup and punchline. nothing. just banana republican catchphrases and stock positions emanating from the bill of a duck.

By the way, Millard Fillmore himself was a helluva fine role model for the duck...he was the candidate of the "Know Nothings" who basically wanted institutionalized bigotry.

legislation by litigation. And only the bottom feeders get anything out of it. They line their pockets "in the name of the people". The Dems need to wake up if we ever want to get back the Senate and House.

is a losing proposition for the Democratic Party. Keep writing off the South if that is your goal.

There should be limits of course, but as a born and raised southerner I can tell you the thing that keeps me family voting GOP (Barf alert) is the gun issue, not gays, not family values, not confederate flags. It's the fact that they perceive the GOP as less restrictive on the numbers of guns they can own. That's it, that's all. I think my family is very representative of southern culture.

12. Some people...
don't need much from the outside world, they just want to live, pay their taxes, go hunting and shoot their guns. My parents fall into this category. They are not interested in the wider world because they are retired and have everything they need. More than anything they just want to be left alone.

Quick, how many other people think there are just scads of voters who don't mind
--an illegal war
--the loss of American prestige and honor
--a sinking economy
--institutionalized corruption
--the trashing of the environment, and
--open bigotry
because they feel that their popgun fetish is threatened.

And that these specimens would vote Democratic if only we kissed up to the scum of the earth in the NRA.
