Because she's up into menopause-land and has realized the old age she really wanted - with family and grandkids around her - is no longer an option? I have some women friends in that boat even now. Not all women choose to be defined by having children and then eventually grandchildreno. Not sure where contradicta falls here, but I do wonder what goes through her mind on some of those lonely nights... especially when bushie-boy retires to another room with another woman, and closes the door. I have one girlfriend who kicks herself every night because - for all her freedom to travel and work when she chooses and do what she wants, not to mention all her accomplishments (and there are many of those) - she's got no man, no house, no kids, no suburbia. Conversely, I have other women friends whose careers came to a standstill because they married and then had kids. And now that they're older, they're happy they made that choice, even if it meant no seat on any board of directors or doctorates. After all, how many people do you know who - on their deathbeds - would truthfully say they wished they'd spent more time at the office?
