Mad at "60 minutes" programs, CNN report, wondering about Grey's..
On CNN Headline News, the reporter - do not remember who - interviewed one of the RW about a parental notification that is making its way to the Supreme Court. And that person repeated the same tired argument that, hey, a parent permission is required to provide kids with aspirin...

And I wish that a reporter will just ask all the RWers whether they really think that having a headache, or even piercing one's ears is the same as having abortion.

Then, on "60 minutes" Leslie Stahl reported about the politicization of Plan B, with Doctor Hager opined against it so as not to "encourage" women to be sexually active - we, on DU, are familiar with the bizarre story of Dr. Hager. Also, about how Wal-Mart pharmacies refuse to even stock these emergency contraception pills.

Also interviewed the woman who resigned in protest about the FDA dragging its foot, and who emphasized that Plan B do not terminate pregnancy, like RU-486, for example, and then an arrogant pharmacist saying that they have a right to refuse filling of any prescription.

Also on "60 minutes" Morley Safer interviewing people who build 11,000 sq ft homes!! One of them said that they were imitation "a Versailles Hose" outside Paris. And Morley Safer said: oh, you mean the Versailles Palace! And I wish that Safer asked the owner whether he knew the fate of the last owner of Versailles. And I also wish that Safer asked the people how they made their living. Where did they get the money to build such opulent castles. And then, again, my spouse commented that we are heading toward a revolution and my response that this would never happen in this country. That while people like us are getting mad at such waste, many others will wish for the "American Dream" so that they, too, can have such houses.

I also think that these monster houses nullify any objection to immigration - legal and illegal. We obviously do not have any shortage of land and of utilities to heat or cool such houses.

Last, watched ABC's "Grey's Anatomy." A woman was pregnant with five fetusi and each was developing a serious health problem. Yes, many doctors told her that had she kept only 2 or 3, she could ensure their health but she would not hear about that. One had the internal organs developing outside the body, another had heart problem and yet another - some neurological problems. And all these diagnosed in utero. Her water broke and they had to remove the babies very much prematurely. The whole hospital was on call to start performing the surgeries, to sustain these tiny babies. I think that the story will continue next week.

I was still under the "60 minutes" program impression and was wondering: saving all these five babies was going to be very expensive, and this is just until they could be released home. No one could tell how they would fare for the rest of their lives. Would their insurance have paid for terminating the pregnancy of some of them, or would the insurance refuse to pay for "abortion" and be presented with a lot higher cost for caring for all five preemies?

2. The Report On Mansions - Grrrrrrr
How much heating oil does it cost to heat one of those monstrosities? Not to mention the land, and other natural resources used. I felt sick while watching that.

5. Yes, Would like to see these people again on "60 minutes"

6. Permission for aspirin, Sir.
I don't know of too many cases where young women who had taken aspirin were called whores, sluts, and tramps; severely beaten by thir enraged religio-fascist parents; then thrown out of their homes in the name of Jeebus Cripes.

But, you know, I don't have a daughter. There's another smug, feel-good Homey Saying that dictates that when a man has a daughter, his entire world view changes. It's just sad that it supposedly changes a man into a brutal, sexist, fecal-mouthed thug who lacks enough self-control to refrain from beating his daughter senseless when she does something he doesn't approve of.

7. The difference is so obvious to every thinking person
that the demagoguery used by that person - Gerson? - is so obvious that it is hard to accept the reporter just let it go.

Telling the parents that she is pregnant means admitting that she is sexually active and not every parent is ready to be faced with this fact.
