Interesting Katrina side effect
Tulane University, located in New Orleans, played 11 football games this season, at 11 different locations.

The hurricane made it impossible for Tulane to play their "home" games at home so they put together a schedule of different locations with the assistance of other universities and locales.

2. A lot of people
enjoy college football and it is a large source of revenue for a community. Life is bleak enough in New Orleans right now. Keeping certain things going like football games and the Mardi Gras will return a sense of normalcy for the people who live there. Is there something wrong with that?

3. I would say that food, shelter and clothing, then jobs. Recreation is way
down there at the bottom of my list. Mardi Gras is not in the same league or category as football. It is a cultural tradition and a hugh money maker. Hugh I say. Football nay...

4. Yeah you rite!
To HELL with football!!! ... Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest and chowing down on tons of crawfish is what we in New Orleans live for - music, food, dance and LOTS of sex and libation! :D

Laissez le bon temps roule!

6. Hard to have food, clothing and shelter
without a job and college football creates a lot of jobs in a community.

7. I would like to see everything go on
And Tulane Football is not above all else. There is a lot of discussion in New Orleans about prioritization; many say we shouldn't do things like football and Mardi Gras and Festivals. I disagree, life goes on. Let us rebuild and help those who want to go home do so and let us also enjoy life. I have a hard time conceptualizing the opposite.

5. I met a nice kid from Tulane
This is sort of off topic, but I met a nice guy who was at Tulane on a music scholarship. He's a fantastic saxophone player. He's back home, helping out temporarily with the local high school jazz band and trying to get some scholarship money to go somewhere else to school until Tulane gets going again.
